“What do you want to eat?” Chu Yang passed the menu to Chi Yan.
Chi Yan ordered two dishes, then ordered two more dishes for Chu Yang, not afraid they wouldn’t be able to finish since Chi Yan always ate a lot.
After the two finished eating, as Chu Yang followed Chi Yan out of the restaurant, she saw him walk over to a Mercedes and open the door for her.
Chu Yang asked: “Why isn’t Little Lamb being driven today?” Then she suddenly remembered Chi Yan's outfit today and laughed. She understood—the peacock was spreading its tail.
Chi Yan: “Ahem, I’m letting Little Lamb rest for a bit.”
Chu Yang got into the passenger seat, buckled her seatbelt. Chi Yan also got into the driver's seat. “Where do you want to go play?”
Chu Yang hadn't actually gone out much in Jing City. But today she wasn't prepared to go out and play, so she directly asked Chi Yan to take her back to her dorm.
Chi Yan was a little disappointed, but still drove towards the A University women’s dorm.
In about fifteen minutes they arrived. Chu Yang unbuckled her seatbelt, flowers in one hand, said bye to Chi Yan and then walked into the women’s dorm.
After Chi Yan could no longer see Chu Yang’s back, he let out a sigh of relief, leaning back into the driver's seat. He was about to drive back to his apartment complex when his phone showed Chu Yang had sent him a message.
Chi Yan opened WeChat on his phone and saw: Thanks my boyfriend for the flowers today.
Chi Yan: !!!
Ahhhhhhhh!
Chi Yan excitedly clenched his fists to his chest and whispered: “Yes!” Then his fingers quickly replied: [Shy smile] [Spinning]
Chi Yan: I’ll come over tomorrow night to eat with you, is that ok?
Chu Yang: Ok.
The smile never left Chi Yan’s face. When he came back to school the next day he still had a grinning expression. Wei Feng and Zheng Qing who were next to him felt goosebumps rise up.
Wei Feng used his elbow to nudge Zheng Qing, whispering to him: “What good thing happened to Brother Yan? That smile... it’s creepy.” Mainly because they had never seen Chi Yan smile like this.
Zheng Qing: “How would I know? Maybe he got a girlfriend?”
Wei Feng: “But if he got a girlfriend shouldn’t he look cooler? Could it be...” Wei Feng suddenly widened his eyes, then grabbed Zheng Qing’s shoulders and started shaking. “Ahhhh, could it be he successfully used his status to get a wife!”
Zheng Qing pushed his hand away, “Why are you so excited? You shook my head dizzy. If it’s true, that would be great, successfully relying on connections!” Zheng Qing gave a thumbs up!
Wei Feng poked Yuan Zhi next to him, leaning in to ask: “Do you think Brother Yan really succeeded?”
Yuan Zhi didn’t want to bother with this idiot. He flicked his forehead, “Ask Yan yourself, don’t disturb my studies.”
Wei Feng swallowed, “I’m a little scared of Brother Yan like this.” But in the end curiosity defeated fear. Wei Feng sat next to Chi Yan, “Brother Yan, did you win the lottery? If you did, don’t forget about me, your little brother.”
Chi Yan glanced at him. He was happy today, so he took a piece of candy out of his pocket, “Here, eat it.”
Wei Feng took the candy and immediately unwrapped it. “Fuck! Brother did you really win the lottery?”
Chi Yan took out a few more pieces, giving one to each person, then proudly announced: “This is candy celebrating me no longer being single.”
Wei Feng and Zheng Qing: !!!
Yuan Zhi had already guessed. Yesterday he had seen Chi Yan driving the Mercedes with a bouquet of flowers, it was obvious who he had gone to see.
Wei Feng was so shocked he immediately swallowed the candy. “Fuck! Brother, you’re my brother, I can’t believe you succeeded in using your status for a wife.”
Zheng Qing grabbed Chi Yan’s hand, “You’re also my brother, remember to cover for me in the future.”
Wei Feng pushed him away, “Get lost, I’m second brother.”
Zheng Qing: “You second senior brother!”
Wei Feng and Zheng Qing started noisily shoving at each other. Yuan Zhi took out an apple and put it in front of Chi Yan, “And me.”
Chi Yan: ......
The competition was quickly approaching. Chu Yang was desperately studying. She didn’t even reply to Chi Yan’s messages when he came over, only answering his call to remember they were supposed to eat together today.
Chu Yang: “Give me ten minutes.”
Chi Yan was very gentle: “Ok, no rush, take your time.” He knew it took girls a while to get ready.
It really was ten minutes. Chu Yang quickly came downstairs dressed in a T-shirt, hair casually tied in a ponytail, just some lipstick on. With her innate beauty and youth she still looked great.
Chi Yan had ridden over on Little Lamb today. Chu Yang quickly put on a helmet and sat behind him, “Let’s go eat at cafeteria #5 today.”
“Ok.”
After eating, Chi Yan suggested going to the supermarket. Chu Yang thought he wanted to buy something, so she agreed.
In the end Chi Yan came out carrying a bag of snacks, for her.
Chu Yang: “......I haven’t finished what you gave me last time.”
Chi Yan: “It’s fine, you can give it to your roommates to eat.”
They put the snacks on the bike. Chi Yan asked again: “Do you want to go for a walk?”
Chu Yang was still thinking about studying. “I’m preparing for a competition recently, let’s just go back.”
When Chi Yan heard she didn’t want to disrupt his girlfriend's studies. “Ok, I’ll take you back.”
“Mm. We’ll go out and play after my competition ends.”
“OK.”
Soon, the language and literature competition was about to start. First was the preliminary written exam, with 1,000 total questions including multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, and a short essay.
Two hours definitely wouldn’t be enough to complete 1,000 questions. You could only answer as many as possible, with most people doing the higher point value questions first.
They would rank the scores from highest to lowest, taking the top 100 to advance to the semifinals. Then the top 10 would advance to the finals.
Not only Chinese language and literature majors could sign up for this competition, other majors could too. But the teacher said: “I don’t recommend everyone sign up. Don’t waste your time and money if you don’t have confidence. If you’re interested you can take a look at previous years’ competition questions to get an idea.”
Those who originally wanted to sign up immediately went to take a look, then...
“Forget it, I give up.”
“I don’t even know the first question [smile]”
“I thought that after high school I was knowledgeable about everything under the heavens, but now after seeing this... I was wrong.”
“How many wives did Emperor Wu of Han have? What kind of question is this? Is it meaningful? Is this language or history?”
“Language includes history, history includes language. And how does it not have meaning? Researching ancient harems is also an area of study, isn’t it?”
