Song Jixing: "I have a very good memory. When I was collecting materials on the island, I went to many places and remembered them all."
"Is it because you often exercise by running around outside?"
"Yes!"
Or if going down the mountain to gain experience counts.
Hu Hui shifted his gaze to Feng Juechen beside him. Feng Juechen had been helping them find the way and pointing them in the right direction all along, greatly assisting the team.
After all, they were from the same sect. If Song Jixing could break world records, Feng Juechen wouldn't fall far behind. However, Feng Juechen hadn't said a word while looking for things.
Hu Hui didn't think much about Feng Juechen's low profile. This was just a competition in a new variety show. They only needed to put on a performance, and there was no need to compete too hard for rankings.
Getting to know more people and expanding connections was the most important thing.
Thanks to Song Jixing's outstanding performance, Sang Xueqing's ranking rose rapidly by several spots, all the way to third place.
The rankings of the others fluctuated greatly.
Sang Xueqing was extremely delighted, looking at Song Jixing with smiling eyes.
The sea breeze blew through the tree leaves as the orange sunset fell to the west.
As dusk approached, a deep blue light cast down from the evening sky, covering the entire small island.
Tiny specks of yellow light floated out from Sang Xueqing's body, slowly gathering around Song Jixing.
Like the stars in the night sky, they eagerly rushed into her embrace.
Song Jixing stared at these rays of light, watching them integrate into her own body.
Feng Juechen had heard about this from Senior Sister, but this was still his first time seeing it happen live.
The specks of light on Sang Xueqing’s body gathered around Song Jixing, lasting about three or four minutes before stopping.
The two fellow disciples remained very quiet throughout, observing everything that transpired.
At last, they took the opportunity when others were distracted to exchange a few words.
Feng Juechen spoke first: “Senior Sister, I don't think that stuff is necessarily the power of faith.”
Song Jixing nodded.
At first, she had also thought it was the power of faith.
In the Cultivation World, when ordinary people piously worshipped mud statues every day, spiritual energy would gather in the statues, sometimes even bringing them back to life.
But this was Earth, where making people worship like that every day was out of the question.
From Sang Xueqing’s performance in the marathon that day and today, Song Jixing felt that it should be a kind of loving and inspirational force. That was why specks of light had gathered around her and turned into spiritual energy for Song Jixing.
As for why that stuff could become spiritual energy, it certainly had something to do with the tripod cauldron she held.
"No matter what that stuff is, it’s a good thing! If my cultivation level can be restored, who knows, you...we might even be able to go back." Song Jixing paused and said.
She had almost said "you guys" instead of "we".
Once her cultivation was restored and she could return to the Cultivation World, she probably wouldn’t stay in this world.
This world had no spiritual energy, so she couldn’t continue cultivating here. Upon reaching the Golden Core realm, she would have a lifespan of one thousand years. With more advanced technology and more ubiquitous cameras in the future, this long-living monster might get captured and dissected for research someday.
After some thought, the Cultivation World was still safer.
Feng Juechen wore a clear, carefree smile. “Senior Sister, don’t be impatient about going back. This is still the mortal realm. We’ll just take it as an opportunity to gain experience in the mortal world.” As he spoke, Feng Juechen gazed into the distance at the scenery.
This place was completely different from the Cultivation World. Even without spiritual energy, ordinary people here could still perform miracles, creating amazing tools. He quite liked it here.
“Senior Sister, if you need my help with anything in the future, just say the word!”
Since Feng Juechen had brought it up, Song Jixing didn't refuse either.
If things went smoothly, Junior Brother could help her a lot in many areas, like financially.
If not...the two of them might end up in jail together.
Song Jixing had already thought of the charges!
Hopefully not the latter.
For the remaining days, the show's activities were relatively peaceful. They brought the guests to experience various projects on the island, like hot springs, boating, homestays, etc.
Of course, these were experience-based competitions.
At the end of the first episode, Song Jixing took first place with a formidable lead.
Although there were suspicions that the first spot had been reserved for her.
Feng Juechen and Sang Xueqing would unconditionally cast their first votes for her every time. Only after the other guests had mostly voted would they quietly make up the difference for those lagging behind.
This didn't affect the rankings much for those at the bottom, but it had a huge impact on those at the top.
And so, Song Jixing maintained a leading position throughout and won first place in this competition.
At the finale, the production team asked each guest to make their signature specialty dish to bring to the table and share with others, summing up the show and giving them a chance to exchange takeaways and feelings from their time together.
Song Jixing thought for a bit and prepared her signature specialty, Smacked Cucumber Salad.
It was a dish that was healthy and palatable to everyone.
The dish Feng Juechen prepared wasn't too shabby either, Cold Mixed Green Salad.
These were Feng Juechen’s own words.
Compared to the other guests’ signature meat, seafood or shrimp dishes, his wasn’t too complicated. But it could still demonstrate a bit of his cooking skills.
The two of them ate as simply as sheep grazing grass on the prairie.
Even Han Yusheng couldn't help joking, “Do you guys eat this kind of grassy stuff every day when eating meals prepared by your master?”
Feng Juechen: “Master doesn’t care what we eat. The cafeteria usually makes a lot of vegetable dishes.”
Song Xiang: “The conditions there seem quite harsh!”
Hu Hui chimed in, “If I went there, I definitely wouldn't be able to stand it!”
“You certainly would have become skinny if you did!”
Everyone burst into laughter.
The entertainment industry has strict requirements regarding artists' figures. To look good on camera, artists are mostly required to be very thin.
For a comedy show host like Hu Hui, this restriction didn't exist. His main job was to make the audience laugh and leave a deep impression.
Among those present, a few had the entertainment industry's standard figures, like Sang Xueqing's petite build, and Song Xiang and Zhu Chongguang's tall, slender physiques.
But Song Jixing and Feng Juechen were different!
The two were thin, but their clothes covered quite a bit of muscle. Lifting and transporting 80-pound objects was effortless, and they could eat just as much.
Yet despite that, they still appeared slender and well-proportioned, refined and cultured - quite unlike the typical image of singing and dancing artists.
Speaking of which, everyone couldn't help but ask:
“What do you guys specialize in? Do you have the same master? Or are you senior and junior fellow disciples under the same sect?”
Song Jixing answered directly: “We learned martial arts and swordsmanship, roughly the same stuff with some minor differences. We have the same master.”
Qiu Ye: “I'm rather curious what kind of martial arts techniques you've learned. Could you demonstrate something for us?”
Feng Juechen looked to Song Jixing.
Song Jixing nodded and stood up. “Then pardon our humble skills!”
Feng Juechen also rose to his feet.
