The zombies outside had appeared only after the alarm went off. They hopped around for a while without finding any humans, then went back into the coffins lying far away.
After Gu Beihuai heard no more noises outside, he took the other two back out.
The lights had been restored, and the infrared lights continued shining, blocking this hallway.
Lan Tianyou: "Let's not mess around this time. I'm scared."
Nan Xiangwan's eyes glanced past the infrared lights to the row of coffins in the space across.
Gu Beihuai: "I'll go first."
As he spoke, he took a step forward, carefully observing the gaps in the lines of infrared, and nimbly passed through.
Lan Tianyou had wanted to observe carefully and remember the steps.
But Gu Beihuai went through so quickly that Lan Tianyou was left dumbfounded, and failed to remember anything!
Lan Tianyou: "Nan Xiangwan, did you remember?"
He didn't remember, and now Gu Beihuai had already gotten to the other side, so what should they do?
Nan Xiangwan: "Why do we need to remember?"
She seemed puzzled. Then she stepped forward, her body moving lightly and nimbly as she slipped through the gaps.
In just a few moments, she had come to the other side.
Lan Tianyou: "!!!"
Damn, now only he was left behind?
What should he do!
Gu Beihuai and Nan Xiangwan stood still side by side across from him, looking at him as if urging him on.
Hurry up! This checkpoint is so simple, come on over quickly!
Lan Tianyou: "......"
He wanted to cry.
Fortunately, Lan Tianyou had gone to military training and later learned some stunts from the stuntmen on the set of Trembling Starry Sky.
He could make it!
Though it took him dozens of times longer than Nan Xiangwan and Gu Beihuai.
By the time Lan Tianyou had carefully slipped through the last infrared beam, Nan Xiangwan was already sitting on the floor nearly asleep.
After all three passed through, the infrared beams behind them clicked off.
Next second, everything went pitch black.
Gu Beihuai reached out towards Nan Xiangwan. Nan Xiangwan was startled for a second before taking his hand.
As for Lan Tianyou, he leaned on Gu Beihuai's shoulder, both arms wrapped tightly around him.
And so, when the lights were on Gu Beihuai dragged two people along, and when it was dark Nan Xiangwan dragged two.
They moved forward!
Up ahead was a strange spherical space, walls made of uneven wooden structures.
But to get across, they still had to pass through rows of coffins placed every which way in front of them.
These dozen or so coffins were placed horizontally and vertically in all sorts of odd angles.
Some coffin lids were closed while others were half open.
Faint green lights glimmered from within those half-open ones.
Lan Tianyou was so frightened he shook all over. If he had to walk through these coffins by himself, there was no way he could do it!
Nan Xiangwan looked back. "Can you see?"
Gu Beihuai shook his head. "Too dark. Can't see clearly."
Nan Xiangwan understood, and continued pulling him along.
The streaming bullet comments now were all discussing what was inside the coffins of course. Those half-open coffins had produced so many zombies earlier when the alarm triggered. But what was inside the closed coffins, they hadn't seen yet.
The screen was filled with intense discussion, without anyone talking about a certain two people holding hands.
It had been deliberately, intentionally ignored!
Wuye saw the bullet comments pretending to earnestly flood the screen, and rolled his eyes before screenshotting and entering the Nan Wang Bei Di Super Topic.
He immediately followed and was about to post the screenshot with a caption, but his hand paused.
There were already people who had posted, and a lot too!
Wuye was excited to seemingly have found comrades, flipping eagerly through page by page.
But then he discovered, damn, below every post by a CP fan was a huge argument going on.
The fans on both sides were locked in fierce battle!
The harmonious bullet comments were an illusion. They were all fighting over here!
Wuye was surprised as he read through several circles, then confirmed one thing.
Bei Di fans seemed to have reached some agreement with the brick throwers, which was basically to not fight openly outside, but battle intensely behind closed doors!
It reeked of not airing dirty laundry in public!
Wuye immediately understood, then giggled as he posted the screenshot with a caption.
CP fans, I'm here!
............
Nan Xiangwan pulled Gu Beihuai along. Gu Beihuai dragged Lan Tianyou. As the three of them passed the first coffin,
Knocking sounds came from within, as if something had kicked the coffin boards, thumping them.
Lan Tianyou's whole body shook as he recoiled towards Gu Beihuai.
Gu Beihuai wanted to push him away, but Lan Tianyou clung on with arms and legs wrapped around him.
Gu Beihuai: "......"
And in the short time the two of them struggled, Nan Xiangwan was already lying on top of a coffin, poking her head inside to take a look!
The NPC lying inside obviously hadn't expected a head to come poking in. He was frightened straight!
But NPCs were professional. Without screaming, he watched with eyes rounded as Nan Xiangwan peered left and right inside the coffin.
NPC: "......"
Should he remind the guest that clues weren't inside his coffin?
Stop looking! He was a little scared!
After scanning all around, Nan Xiangwan seemed disappointed. "Why'd you stop moving?"
NPC: "......"
Of course! His job was only to kick his legs when they walked past, giving them a fright.
By then, the Heavenly King had finally gotten Lan Tianyou under control, tucking him firmly beneath his arm where he settled down.
Then he turned his head and saw Nan Xiangwan's very disappointed face emerging from the coffin.
Gu Beihuai: "......"
It had only been a short while, and the little one was causing trouble again!
He really had to keep watching her, couldn't let his guard down.
Lan Tianyou also saw this scene: "Oh my god! You actually stuck your head inside to look, let's go, hurry up and go!"
The three of them continued forward. When they reached the second coffin, Nan Xiangwan still wanted to peek inside.
Gu Beihuai grabbed her back. "No more looking. The open coffins don't come out because they're sealed. We should check out the tightly shut ones."
Having gotten a clue, Nan Xiangwan's eyes lit up. She shook Gu Beihuai's hand off and raced forward!
Without hesitation she came to one tightly closed coffin. The coffin was sealed shut, its contents unknown.
Nan Xiangwan reached out and forcefully pried open the lid!
With a loud clang, the heavy lid slammed onto the ground beside them.
The NPC within was scared pale. Before he could react, an enlarged face poked in brimming with curiosity.
But in the current situation, Nan Xiangwan's inquisitive gaze made the NPC feel like she wanted to dissect him!
And so...
NPC: "Ahhh!"
The NPC couldn't endure it and screamed.
After screaming, he hurriedly covered his mouth, scolding himself internally.
Crap, they were going to dock his pay!
While the other NPCs lying in coffins held in their laughter, pained from laughing too hard.
Being frightened by a guest was so embarrassing!
Nan Xiangwan didn't care whether he was screaming or not. Her eyes scanned him up and down like a scanner.
Let's see what was hidden inside this coffin!
