The Malevolent Female Villain Turns Out to Be Me

Chapter 15

When Xu Wanwan came in, she met Xiao Jianren, the eldest daughter of the prominent Xiao family in Hai City. Xiao Jianren was only 20 years old this year, but her outfit made her look much older.

When Xiao Jianren saw Xu Wanwan's country bumpkin attire, she immediately covered her nose with her hand. "How can they let all kinds of riffraff in here? It really lowers this store's standards." Xiao Jianren said in disgust.

A clerk immediately chimed in, "The young miss is right. Someone dressed so shabbily actually dares to come in here - I bet she's looking to steal things!"

"A single item of clothing here is worth this girl's spending for years. You two go frisk her body and don't let her steal anything." The store manager ordered two clerks.

Xu Wanwan was so angry her face turned red and she shouted, "You dare? This is against the law!"

"The law? In my Xiao family's store, I am the law!" Xiao Jianren sneered and signaled to the two clerks with her eyes.

Xu Wanwan's face paled. She took off her backpack and swung it at the two clerks.

But she was outnumbered. One clerk grabbed her hand while the other snatched away her backpack and threw it aside, then moved to frisk her body.

The commotion inside attracted the attention of customers outside. They stopped to watch the spectacle, some even took out their phones to record videos and added commentary: "Female thief caught stealing by store clerks, how shameless..."

Some sighed, "Why can't a nice girl do proper work, instead she has to steal..."

Hearing the discussion, Xu Wanwan was so anxious that tears streamed down her face. She just wanted to break free.

She lifted her leg and kicked one of the clerks.

The clerk was caught off guard and tumbled to the ground. The other clerk saw this and slapped Xu Wanwan across the face. Xu Wanwan reflexively closed her eyes.

"Slap!" Followed by a shriek. Xu Wanwan felt the whole world go silent.

But she didn't feel any pain. Instead, something warm splashed onto her face.

Xu Wanwan immediately opened her eyes to see the clerk who tried to slap her with a blob of black stuff in her hair. Some liquid was dripping down the strands.

Looking closely, it was...bubble tea?

"Wanwan! Wanwan, are you okay?" A familiar voice rang in Xu Wanwan's ears.

Xu Wanwan looked over to see Ye Jinmeng rush in through the store entrance.

"I'm fine." Xu Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief.

"Humph, look at your red eyes, and you say you're fine?" Ye Jinmeng said as she took out tissues, wanting to wipe the splattered bubble tea off Xu Wanwan's face.

When she came over to watch the commotion, she never expected the person involved to be Xu Wanwan. She was so anxious that she immediately threw her bubble tea, luckily her aim was accurate so the bad guy didn't get to harm Wanwan.

"I...I can do it myself." Xu Wanwan said awkwardly.

Ye Jinmeng didn't refuse, she handed the tissues to Xu Wanwan and turned to face the people in the store.

The originally cute and chubby face now held a hint of anger.

"I really didn't expect XJ to treat customers this way. I'm very surprised!" Ye Jinmeng said sarcastically.

Xiao Jianren immediately changed her previously arrogant expression. She smiled ingratiatingly at Ye Jinmeng and said, "Miss Ye, do you know her? Let me tell you, this person is a thief. She wanted to steal our store's clothes but was caught red-handed by our clerks."

She even cautioned, "Don't be fooled by her!"

Hearing this, Xu Wanwan's expression darkened even more.

"She's a thief? What did she take from your store? Where's the evidence? Falsely accusing someone without evidence can incur legal liability!"

Ye Jinmeng looked around the entire store in disgust, "Besides, who would even want your crappy stuff even if you gave it away for free? She wouldn't bother stealing from your store!"

Xiao Jianren's face turned white, she was so angry she almost cracked her porcelain veneers. A trace of viciousness flashed in her eyes. She signaled the store manager again.

The manager understood and quickly explained, "Miss Ye, just now our clerks saw her loitering suspiciously in the store, so they assumed she was a thief."

He pointed at the clerk with bubble tea dripping down her hair and berated loudly, "Hurry and apologize to Miss Ye!"
