A mere half-vampire, how could Chloe be so dependent on Anderson?
Xavier could not understand, but he could not bear to see his daughter trapped in frenzy for long. His emotions were complex for a while.
The room was incredibly quiet until Chloe drank her fill of blood and fell asleep in Anderson's embrace. Only then did the room produce some faint sounds.
Xavier raised his hand, and Chloe appeared in his arms.
Anderson felt an emptiness in his embrace, his eyelashes fluttering and a hint of desolation in his eyes.
After a long while, Xavier brushed aside the strands of hair on Chloe's face, his crimson eyes fixed intently on Anderson:
"She brought you here, and I allow you to follow her to The No.1 Military Academy because I see how deep your feelings are for each other."
Anderson said nothing, only his breathing growing heavier.
Xavier looked down at him, his eyes flashing with contempt:
"I value you, but that does not mean I am willing to entrust my daughter entirely to you, Anderson. Do you understand?"
Anderson's throat moved, and he said hoarsely, "I understand."
Upon hearing this, Xavier finally withdrew his gaze and said lightly:
"I have looked into your background, the second son of the Francis Family, a half-vampire."
He raised his eyes, looking at him proudly:
"Chloe is the only heir of the vampires, with the purest bloodline today. When you two grow up, I will personally guide her. Some people cannot be relied upon forever."
Now they are still young, and their feelings for each other are unclear, at most a habitual dependence. But what if they grow up? It is unknown how their relationship will develop.
Xavier will never allow a weak half-vampire to enter the royal family.
"Remember your place, Anderson."
With those words, Anderson was expelled from the room.
The wooden door closed heavily, making a muffled sound as Anderson's back slammed against the ship's wall, a trickle of fresh blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.
He coughed a few times, a crimson hue appearing in his eyes.
The guard on duty at the door felt awkward and was about to help him up when the young man pushed himself off the wall and stood up.
The guard was moved: "Young man, you..."
Before he could finish, the youth brushed his hand aside and said softly, "Excuse me."
With that, he went straight past the guard.
The guard stood there awkwardly, then scratched the back of his head:
"Kids these days really are arrogant."
Inside the room.
Xavier looked at the finally sleeping Chloe, his expression complex.
Rationally, he should have sternly warned her when she woke up and forbade her from ever approaching Anderson again.
But emotionally, he was afraid that if he said that, Chloe, who was already not close to him, would dislike him even more.
Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose, his expression weary.
He would take it one step at a time.
During this period, Xavier practically stayed by Chloe's side, personally taking care of her, handling every little thing, even neglecting vampire political affairs and leaving everything to Kewen.
It wasn't until four or five days later that Chloe finally woke up slowly.
At this time, Xavier was helping her rinse her mouth.
Chloe spat out the rinse water expressionlessly, then naturally took the toothbrush and brushed her teeth herself. Afterwards, she asked:
"Where's Anderson?"
Xavier's body stiffened:
"Why are you asking about him?"
Chloe gave him a wry smile and said:
"I heard your conversation that day. Did you think I wouldn't know anything just because I was unconscious?"
Xavier's expression changed.
Seeing his unsightly expression, Chloe relented: "I won't say much, but Anderson has saved me so many times, Father. You can't turn a blind eye to that."
Xavier pursed his lips, then finally said, "His intentions are impure."
"What impure intentions could a child have?" Chloe thought Xavier was being unreasonable. "If anyone's intentions are impure, it should be me. Don't they all call me the little rascal?"
Hearing this, Xavier's expression grew even more unsightly: "Nonsense."
"In your heart, only your words are the truth." Chloe jumped off the bed.
She didn't want to say more to Xavier. Seeing him trying to stop her, she halted her steps, turned, and tightly hugged his waist, burying her face in his embrace.
Xavier was stunned.
Chloe lifted her head from his embrace and gave him a mischievous smile:
"Father, thank you for taking care of me during this time. I love you~"
With that, she climbed up his body and kissed his cheek, then jumped down, saying, "I'm going to take a shower."
Chloe, holding her clothes, looked at the still dazed Xavier and warned:
"I will deal with this matter, don't give Anderson any trouble."
This was the first time in all these years that Chloe had taken the initiative to be close to him. Xavier was slow to react, still savoring the moment.
Hearing her words now, even if he was unwilling in his heart, he didn't want to ruin this atmosphere, so he could only say, "I know, I'll let you handle it yourself."
Seeing her scheme succeed, Chloe arched her eyebrows triumphantly and excitedly ran into the bathroom to shower.
This matter was settled for the time being. After showering, Chloe disregarded Xavier's dissuasion and went out.
Xavier fretted behind her, wanting to bring Chloe back now but also unwilling to, at a loss for what to do.
Chloe, however, did not care about all that. After finding out where the protagonist team's training room was at The No.1 Military Academy, she went straight there.
Pushing open the door, Qin Huaibei, Daniel, and Katherine were all inside, but Anderson was nowhere to be seen.
Where had he gone?
The others, upon seeing Chloe, immediately started chattering excitedly. Daniel ran over:
"You're awake! Ahhh, I thought you were a goner!"
Chloe was hugged tightly by each of them before she asked, "Where's Anderson?"
Upon hearing her ask for him, the others scratched their heads, unsure of what to say.
It was Katherine who kindly told her:
"He hasn't come to the training room for many days. Apparently, he was struck down by the Progenitor. I saw him on the top deck of the ship when I went to store something there. You can try looking for him there."
Hearing this, Chloe thanked her and hurriedly went to find Anderson.
Daniel muttered, "Honestly, she only has Anderson on her mind."
Chloe followed the directions to the top deck of the ship and, sure enough, found Anderson sitting on the railing, enjoying the breeze.
She excitedly called out his name and was about to go over when she saw his pupils constrict as he got up, intending to leave.
Chloe's expression flashed with surprise, but how could she let him escape?
In an instant, she flew forward, pinned the fleeing Anderson to the ground, her slender, pale hands gripping his throat, her expression fierce:
"Did I say you could leave? Do you just listen to whatever Xavier says? Whose life did I save?"
Chloe's questions grew more intense, and Anderson, who had been struggling, suddenly stopped.
His emerald eyes met Chloe's, his gaze indecipherable.
But Chloe was truly angry, tightening her grip on his throat as she snarled:
"You belong to me, not Xavier! Who gave you permission to listen to him in front of me?!"
"Anderson, you really have some nerve."
