In an instant, the entire Viper Group base was thrown into chaos.
Soldiers from the Werewolf Race and Vampires surrounded the entire camp, ensuring not even a mosquito could fly out. The remaining troops charged into the base, subduing Viper Group personnel while engaging in fierce combat with their deployed forces.
Battle cries, thunderous artillery, and nearby flames engulfed the area as gunfire and explosions erupted all around.
"Charge! Let's get those bastards!"
"These are the ones who killed our comrades!"
"Kill them! Kill them all!"
Such shouts were heard everywhere.
Daniel led the charge at the front, with countless enemies falling under his wolf-tooth mace.
He called out: "Has anyone seen where Chloe is?"
Qin Huaibei, wielding a sword behind him, glanced at his terminal and replied: "...Seems she's still in the laboratory."
"Isn't she still with that damn old man then?"
Daniel cursed and turned to Anderson: "Go find her!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Anderson decapitated a Viper Group soldier with his blade and spread his wings, swiftly flying towards the laboratory.
Just then, a earth-shattering sound erupted from nearby, interspersed with shrill, unpleasant screams.
Those who had long dealt with the Viper Group instantly realized something was amiss.
"Shit!" Daniel swore, "Those bastards have sent out their monsters again!"
No sooner had he spoken than countless massive, grotesque creatures emerged from the distance.
Simultaneously, Viper Group soldiers began to retreat strategically, taking cover behind the monsters to launch attacks.
Unexpectedly, some of these monsters seemed to lack consciousness, even grabbing and devouring a Viper Group soldier.
Despite this, the soldiers showed no fear, frantically seeking shelter behind the monsters.
Katherine gripped her bow tightly, muttering: "Have they gone mad? They're not afraid of death at all..."
"That's the Viper Group for you. It's not like we just learned about this today," Daniel said, though his expression remained grim. "A bunch of lunatics!"
Qin Huaibei removed his glasses: "Let's go together, don't hold back."
In an instant, the mountain hollow had become a blood-soaked battlefield.
In the distance, at the Werewolf Race capital, Xavier vaguely sensed something and looked up at the sky through the window.
...
In the laboratory, Chloe grabbed Sotos, with her back against the hard alloy wall and a giant monster that had just been released in front of her.
It was difficult to describe the creature's appearance. At first glance, it resembled an enlarged, spiky sea urchin, completely black and utterly hideous.
Chloe looked down and said: "Is this the kind of ugly thing you spend your days researching?"
Sotos' face was pale.
Chloe's hand was clamped around his neck, often making it hard for him to breathe. He had to forcefully pry at her hand for her to realize and loosen her grip slightly.
But it wouldn't be long before it tightened again.
Sotos grabbed Chloe's hand, trying to pull it away.
Seeing this, Chloe reluctantly loosened her grip a bit more, complaining: "What a troublesome old man."
Sotos turned his head and coughed several times before angrily retorting: "It's not an ugly thing, it's a miracle, a miracle!"
Chloe rolled her eyes: "A miracle born at the cost of countless innocent lives?"
If that were the case, even if this monster were truly divine, it would be an evil god.
As they spoke, the monster's movements became increasingly fluid.
Chloe realized it would be difficult to fight while holding onto the old man. She promptly placed Sotos on the ground, cast a spell around him to ensure he couldn't escape the circle she had drawn, and then raised her blade to face the monster!
The blade came down with tremendous force, cleaving the giant urchin in two.
Chloe vaguely sensed something was amiss.
After a brief moment of confusion, the monster that had been split in half instantly reformed into its original shape!
Chloe finally understood what was wrong.
Damn it, this monster was completely made of black mist, impossible to cut.
She belatedly realized this could be troublesome.
How could she deal with a creature that didn't even feel pain when struck?
Forget pain, it didn't even have a wound.
This was going to be tricky.
No matter, she'd figure it out as she fought.
Meanwhile, the urchin began swinging its spines, engaging Chloe in direct combat.
Chloe calmed herself. If physical attacks couldn't harm it, she'd switch to spells.
If nothing else, Vampires were quite proficient with spellcasting.
After being injured by several high-level spells, the urchin began to counterattack furiously.
This was exactly what Chloe wanted.
The more ferociously the urchin fought back, the more violently Chloe attacked.
Spell after spell rained down, turning the black-skinned urchin into a charred one.
The battle between woman and monster grew increasingly fierce.
The urchin's already chaotic mind became even more addled by the spells.
Chloe could tell that this monster left in the lab must be their latest creation.
She had seen it the last time she assisted Sotos.
Back then, the urchin was just a small ball, rolling around in a petri dish.
The more Chloe thought about it, the angrier she became.
Damn it, she had participated in creating this thing, practically making her its half-mother.
Yet here was the urchin, violently attacking its half-mother.
This realization made Chloe's attacks even more brutal.
Continuing to fight in the lab wasn't a good idea.
She needed to try and lure the urchin outside.
Chloe dodged a spray of spines from the urchin, taking a moment to survey the lab's layout.
With a leap, she bounded onto a beam and dashed towards the main door!
The urchin twisted its body, its black mist swirling and distorting as it howled and charged after Chloe!
Chloe took one last look at Sotos, whom she had left behind.
The spell would prevent him from escaping.
Nevertheless, after jumping out of the lab, Chloe grabbed a nearby Vampire soldier who was bravely fighting and barked an order:
"There's an old man in the lab, go watch him!"
The soldier was startled but instinctively responded: "Yes, ma'am!"
Chloe released the soldier's collar, watching him dash into the lab before quickly putting distance between herself and the area.
The urchin burst out of the doorway, its formless, misty body twisting in the air.
The creature seemed quite vindictive, ignoring the numerous soldiers around it and charging straight for Chloe.
Chloe remained calm, leading the urchin towards a more open area.
There, she spotted a familiar face.
"Anderson?"
Anderson said nothing, charging forward with his blade raised.
"Wait!" Chloe shouted, "Blades won't work on it, use spells! Spells!"
Anderson quickly caught on, conjuring a crackling fireball in his hand and hurling it directly at the urchin!
The urchin recoiled in pain but still didn't change direction, intent on pummeling Chloe.
Chloe: "Damn it, you remember grudges but not kindness, you little brat."
Just as she said this, a thunderous roar filled the sky.
Chloe cast a spell that left the urchin dazed and confused, then looked up to see it was a ship from The No.1 Military Academy.
The next moment, a massive black tentacled monster was thrown down.
Chloe looked closely and exclaimed:
"Little Three?!"
