Chloe's speed was incredibly fast, causing the Hooded Man to be unable to dodge as the blade approached his eyes.
With a loud "clang," the blade slashed through, severing the Hooded Man's arm. Blood and flesh splattered onto the damp earth.
The Hooded Man was a tough character; even with his arm severed, he remained calm, not even letting out a scream.
Even when Chloe seized the opportunity to snatch away the powder that could control the monsters, the Hooded Man didn't utter a curse.
From start to finish, his attitude remained nonchalant. He slightly turned his head to look at the wound on his arm, then grinned and quipped:
"I knew I couldn't let my guard down around the little miss, or I'd pay dearly for it."
He then tilted his head slightly and said, "The little miss hits quite hard, it's unbearable."
This demeanor made it hard not to suspect that he had some trump card up his sleeve.
Otherwise, why would he speak in such a manner?
Shouldn't he be shocked after having his arm cut off and the powder he used to threaten everyone stolen?
Unless he had a backup plan.
Chloe felt irritated, and at that moment, the Hooded Man extended his other uninjured hand and placed it on the bowl-sized wound.
A red light flashed, and new flesh quickly grew from the area, rapidly intertwining to form a brand new arm.
...Even the clothing was restored.
Daniel's eyes nearly popped out in shock: "Holy crap, what kind of trick is this?"
The Hooded Man chuckled, about to say something more when suddenly a silver light flashed before him.
His expression changed slightly as he quickly retreated.
The sharp blade grazed past the bridge of the Hooded Man's nose. If his reaction hadn't been quick enough, it wouldn't have been his arm that fell off this time, but his nose.
Thinking of that image, the Hooded Man's throat tightened.
But there was no time for him to be distracted, as Chloe's next wave of blade attacks came again!
Not just Chloe, but Daniel and the others not far behind all charged forward.
Chloe's sword swings became increasingly natural and fierce, but what puzzled her was that the man before her showed no intention of fighting back, constantly dodging instead.
This reaction was as if he didn't even consider fighting them worth his time.
Chloe felt secretly annoyed and tried to provoke him:
"What's wrong? Are you such a coward that you only dare to dodge and not fight back?"
The Hooded Man twirled to avoid the approaching blade and chuckled softly: "A rather clumsy attempt at provocation."
Chloe: "..."
She gritted her teeth, her blade strikes becoming even more precise.
There was no time to play house with him, Chloe thought, her movements becoming even more aggressive.
When Chloe got serious, she was indeed very difficult to deal with. At least the number of wounds on the Hooded Man's body had reached double digits.
But despite this, the Hooded Man still refused to strike back.
This wasn't right.
Chloe thought to herself.
Didn't he hate her to the bone? Then why wasn't he fighting back now?
Or was it that the Hooded Man knew his own capabilities and therefore didn't dare to confront her directly?
But that didn't make sense either. Just based on the Hooded Man's dodging skills, his martial prowess was certainly not inferior.
So why wasn't he fighting back?
Soon, however, Chloe understood what was going on.
Because it started raining again from the sky.
Not only that, but the control panel in the distance also began to operate again.
Chloe's heart skipped a beat.
This wasn't good!
Sure enough, the previously rigid transparent creatures began to slowly move their bodies after being doused by the rain, and the center of the control panel started working again. In the giant culture dish, new monsters were gradually taking shape.
The Hooded Man spread his hands: "Oh my, what to do? It seems you're about to find yourselves in a deadly situation again."
Daniel cursed, pulling out his hammer and forcefully attacking the culture dish.
If they could spill the culture fluid inside, let's see if they could still produce these monsters.
But the culture dish was unexpectedly hard. Daniel tried several times but couldn't break it open. His blood rushed to his head in frustration, and he angrily smashed the skull of a nearby monster with his hammer.
Chloe looked at the Hooded Man with hostile eyes.
The Hooded Man met her gaze leisurely:
"Don't blame me, my dear little miss. It's because I have this in my hand."
What lay in his palm was unmistakably a remote control.
It seemed that this device controlled the operation of the control panel and the rain mixed with powder falling from the sky.
Indeed, if he could let the transparent monsters wear them down to death, why would the Hooded Man need to act personally?
He truly was cunning and treacherous to the extreme.
Chloe, unable to contain her anger, pulled out a dagger and threw it at him.
The dagger embedded itself squarely in the Hooded Man's chest, blood gushing out, but he showed no reaction. He even personally pulled out the dagger and tossed it to the ground.
Something wasn't right.
Chloe pondered the Hooded Man's strange behavior while killing the transparent monsters around her.
How could anyone reattach a severed arm without relying on healing abilities or a treatment chamber?
The wound healed far too quickly, unless the Hooded Man wasn't physically present here.
The Hooded Man appearing before them was very likely just a projection.
Having figured this out, Chloe wished she could reach through the projection and give the Hooded Man a good whack on the head.
Damn it, did he find toying with them so amusing?
Chloe looked at the chaotic scene of The No.1 Military Academy team and sadly realized—it did seem quite entertaining.
Especially when there was a grudge between both parties, the amusement factor was even higher.
Now all they could do was wait for the technical personnel to arrive and fix the control panel.
Otherwise, continuing like this was completely futile.
Once again trapped in endless slaughter, Chloe inevitably felt fatigued.
Just then, the ground began to shake unsteadily, and uneasy elements permeated the air.
The Hooded Man glanced in the direction of the oppressive sensation, seeming to ponder something.
Even these transparent monsters began to fall silent.
Chloe was dumbfounded. Could it be that some powerful monster was hiding in this forest?
Come on, don't mess around!
As everyone was filled with uncertainty and fear, a sudden gust of wind arose, instantly sweeping all the monsters into a whirlwind. The pressure of the cyclone tore these monsters apart, even grinding their heads into powder.
Was this force purposefully helping them?
Chloe was stunned for a moment. Suddenly, the sound of flapping wings came from the sky. She abruptly looked up—
In the dark gray sky above, a man in an immaculate suit appeared. His long black hair was tied low at the back of his head, his crimson eyes deep and mysterious. With his back straight, he looked as elegant as if he were about to attend an evening gala.
It was Xavier!
When did he arrive?
Confusion flashed across the eyes of everyone present—why would the Ancestor of the Vampire clan suddenly appear here?
Wasn't the Elf Race not allowing him to enter?
At that moment, Chloe shouted Xavier's name loudly.
Hearing the call, Xavier lowered his gaze, just in time to see his only daughter waving her arms at him, then pointing towards a huge control panel not far away.
After pondering for a moment, Xavier understood her meaning. He raised his hand and gently pressed downward.
In an instant, the control panel was crushed into powder.
