Chloe was overjoyed, and Daniel beside her even shouted:
"What took you so long? We're about to die of exhaustion!"
Ren Yunying ignored him, and after disembarking from the spaceship, she pulled out her whip and struck at the monsters nearby.
Seeing this, Qin Huaibei reminded her, "Cut off their heads. That's the only way to kill them completely."
Hearing this, Ren Yunying readily changed her approach. She wrapped her long whip around the monster's neck, made sure it was tight, and then yanked hard.
With a crisp sound of breaking bones, the monster collapsed along with the noise.
She had brought many soldiers with her, apparently genuinely concerned that her students might perish in the Forest of Life.
Chloe felt an inexplicable surge of emotion, realizing that Ren Yunying truly cared about them.
As Chloe was feeling touched to the point of tears, Ren Yunying seized the moment to say:
"You couldn't even take out these things after all this time? Did a dog eat your strength?"
Chloe: "..."
She promptly turned away, pretending not to have heard Ren Yunying speak.
The instructor clearly didn't like them, starting with a scolding right off the bat. How annoying.
After decapitating a monster in front of her, Chloe realized that continuing like this wasn't the solution. She needed to confirm whether someone in this forest was continuously creating these monsters.
Otherwise, how many would they have to clear out? For how long?
If they became exhausted and couldn't hold on, that would be when real danger struck – like sheep walking into a tiger's den.
Chloe put away her broadsword, and her wings suddenly spread open, lifting her up into the sky.
Noticing her movement, Katherine looked up, confusion apparent in her eyes: "What are you going to do?"
"Confirm some things. Don't worry about me, you guys keep busy."
As she spoke, Chloe extended her perception outward, but naturally found nothing.
This was a bit troublesome.
Chloe licked her pointed teeth, then suddenly sped off towards the distance.
The people below only caught a glimpse of her back before she vanished from sight.
Daniel stood dumbfounded, nearly dropping his spiked mace, and asked in bewilderment:
"What's she doing, deserting?"
Anderson paused, giving him a cold glance filled with concern as if looking at an idiot. Before Daniel could notice, he resumed raising his sword to kill enemies.
Qin Huaibei said: "She must have a reason for doing this. Don't worry needlessly, just focus on your own task."
As it turned out, Qin Huaibei's guess was correct.
Chloe was indeed busy with important matters, but these matters were proving quite difficult. She flew back and forth above the Forest of Life like a fly, ultimately discovering nothing.
She had long since stopped using her perception, as in this situation, it was merely a burden.
After all, those monsters were created specifically to irritate vampires.
Chloe's gaze calmly swept across the entire Forest of Life, trying to find some clues or evidence within it.
But regrettably—there was nothing.
After all this time, she hadn't found a damn thing.
Chloe inevitably felt a bit anxious. Could her guess be wrong?
No, that's not right. If it wasn't as she had guessed, how could there be so many monsters in the Forest of Life?
That suffocating quantity was enough to make one shudder.
The Forest of Life simply couldn't sustain so many monsters. If this continued, the entire ecosystem of the Forest of Life would likely be destroyed.
There must be something else hidden here, something that could support the production of so many monsters.
Chloe steadied herself and continued to observe the Forest of Life beneath her feet intently.
This altitude was still somewhat inconvenient.
Thinking this, Chloe slowed the frequency of her wing beats, lowering her altitude to better observe every blade of grass and tree in the Forest of Life.
There was definitely something hidden in there.
Her movement speed wasn't particularly fast, but rather slow and steady, ensuring she could gradually and meticulously take in all the anomalies within the Forest of Life.
Just then, her terminal lit up with an incoming communication.
Chloe's dark red eyes flickered with a faint light. After connecting, she didn't look at the light screen, but continued to stare unblinkingly at the scenery of the Forest of Life.
...Where is it?
"Where are you now? The monsters here seem endless," Ren Yunying's voice was slightly urgent. "There must be something else in the Forest of Life."
"Otherwise, how could so many people not be able to finish off these monsters? There must be someone behind this."
After a brief pause, Ren Yunying continued, dissatisfied: "Chloe, are you even listening?"
"Of course," Chloe replied, "To be honest, I'm currently searching for the bastard causing this phenomenon."
"When I find them, I'll have to give them a good thrashing to vent my anger."
Hearing this, Ren Yunying finally understood why Chloe had suddenly left.
Her tone softened: "I see. Carry on then. We can manage here for now, but... we still need to hurry."
As she spoke, the sound of a whip cracking came through from the other end.
Chloe ended the communication, her gaze coincidentally falling on a valley to her right front.
The terrain there was low and flat, nestled between two mountain peaks, deep and bottomless, with dense treetops growing up from the valley floor.
Acting on a subtle intuition, Chloe flew towards that valley. Before doing so, she carefully set her terminal to silent mode.
Chloe felt her intuition was fairly accurate; there must be something unsavory inside this valley.
She deliberately controlled both her flight speed and amplitude.
The closer she got to the valley, the more silent the surroundings became.
It was a silence that penetrated to the bone, even making one feel chilled to the core.
Deathly quiet.
Chloe landed lightly on the treetops, confirming her position before parting the leaves to look down.
This time her luck was good; her landing spot was right at the center of the entire valley. Pushing aside the leaves, she could see the tents set up below.
In the middle of the tents was a group of researchers wearing white coats.
In front of them were several enormous machines.
In the very center was something resembling a fish cultivation tank, filled with transparent liquid. Immersed within were many of the transparent monsters she had seen earlier.
Chloe unconsciously held her breath and continued to observe.
Those must be researchers from the Viper Group. There was little emotion between them, maintaining a strict superior-subordinate relationship.
One middle-aged man with thinning hair took a small pair of tweezers from a young assistant beside him. He reached into the giant culture tank and cut through a layer of the transparent monster's skin and flesh.
The next instant, the culture tank was opened. The sleeping monsters suddenly opened their eyes, screaming as they swam out of the tank, their cries extremely ferocious.
The middle-aged man calmly tossed over a bracelet. The moment it made contact, a huge vortex appeared, instantly sucking in the group of monsters from the culture tank.
It was a spatial vortex.
