Anderson's fingers were warm, while the rain flower pebble pendant was perpetually cold. Chloe shivered for a moment, then wrapped her hand around Anderson's wrist.
The girl's voice was teasing: "Why are you acting so coy with me? Why don't you like this pendant?"
Caught off guard by being labeled as coy, Anderson's expression remained unchanged, not finding anything wrong with her words.
He just furrowed his brow and insisted, "I just don't like it."
Chloe raised an eyebrow: "Why are you being so difficult?"
With that, she lifted her hand and removed the rain flower pebble pendant, tucking it into the nearby drawer.
She had worn this rain flower pebble pendant for many years and had never taken it off. If Anderson hadn't mentioned it, she might have forgotten she even had this little trinket around her neck.
Things worn for a long time usually hold some special meaning, but...
Chloe looked at Anderson, whose eyes had reddened, and felt she should cheer him up a bit.
She grasped Anderson's chin, playfully shaking it left and right, then said with a smile, "Aw, are you that pitiful?"
Anderson didn't speak, his emerald green eyes glistening with moisture, looking quite vulnerable.
Chloe was a genuine sucker for good looks, and she found Anderson's face incredibly pleasing to the eye.
The girl's lips curled into a smirk as she released her hold on Anderson's chin, scoffing:
"Alright, you poor thing, go do whatever you need to do. Don't keep bothering me."
Hearing this, Anderson obediently stood up and helped Chloe out of bed.
Before leaving the room, Anderson glanced back at the bedside drawer, his gaze cold.
It was completely different from the soft, vulnerable look he had shown Chloe.
He'd find a time to get rid of that thing sooner or later.
The moment she opened the door, Chloe saw Qin Huaibei and the others hiding behind it, eavesdropping.
The sudden opening of the door caught them off guard, and Daniel nearly lost his balance and fell.
Their eyes met, and the atmosphere turned extremely awkward.
Chloe felt a question mark slowly rising in her mind:
"What are you all doing here? Eavesdropping?"
Qin Huaibei coughed twice: "How can you call this eavesdropping? That's not very civilized."
"Exactly," Daniel chimed in, "We're just concerned about you, wanting to know what important matters our dear boss and dear Anderson were discussing."
Chloe looked at him with disdain: "Don't try to make eavesdropping sound so noble. I might not be able to resist punching you."
Daniel shrugged nonchalantly: "Go ahead, it's not like I haven't been hit before."
As they noisily made their way downstairs, Qin Huaibei suddenly remembered something and said:
"Oh right, your little fanboy came looking for you today."
After about two seconds, Chloe realized he was talking to her and raised her head, looking confused:
"What little fanboy?"
"Remember? From Lanxicha Military Academy, the one called Feng Xi, the guy with pretty good skills," Qin Huaibei tried to jog her memory. "He's quite capable, probably recruited by Tagar Military Academy."
Even with this explanation, Chloe still didn't have much of an impression: "Feng Xi? Never heard of him."
At this point, Anderson reminded her from the side: "The one I've had quite a few conflicts with before."
Hearing this, Chloe finally recalled:
"Ah, that guy."
Chloe pondered for a few seconds: "My little fanboy?"
"That's right," Daniel said, "He seems to really like you. His eyes were practically glued to you."
Chloe raised an eyebrow: "Well, he's certainly brave."
Ever since they had grown up and become increasingly attractive, numerous people had flocked to them.
The two girls in the team were the primary targets.
Katherine employed the cold treatment method of not listening, not looking, and not responding. Unsurprisingly, all her suitors gave up.
In comparison, Chloe was much more violent, her problem-solving method simple and brutal.
This troublemaker directly announced at school — "Don't love me, it's pointless, unless you can beat me in a fight."
There were quite a few overconfident guys who approached her, only to be beaten up by Chloe time and time again.
There wasn't a single lovesick boy at The No.1 Military Academy who hadn't been beaten up by Chloe.
Over time, Chloe's reputation for ferocity spread.
It had been a long time since anyone had tried to court Chloe.
Now, hearing such comments again, Chloe was actually a bit interested.
She asked eagerly: "That guy called Feng Xi, what does he look like? Is he handsome?"
Hearing this, Daniel was taken aback, then laughed: "Is he trying to woo you or are you trying to woo him? You sound like an impatient little rascal."
Chloe clicked her tongue impatiently: "Are you going to tell me or not? If not, you're getting punched."
"I'll tell, I'll tell!" Daniel said irritably, "He looks okay, I guess, pretty average, kind of beautiful."
Beautiful, huh.
Chloe thought carefully. Indeed, that guy had looked androgynous five years ago, almost mistaken for a girl.
After so many years, he probably hadn't grown up to be ugly.
Chloe had never seen a man who could be described as beautiful, so she became a bit interested and asked again:
"Do you have a photo? Let me see."
As soon as she finished speaking, Anderson turned his gaze towards her, his fingers curling slightly.
He didn't look at Chloe, but instead fixed his gaze on Daniel.
It carried a hint of coldness and warning.
Daniel's motion to find a photo immediately stopped.
When he spoke, he even stuttered a bit, then said sheepishly:
"I don't have a photo, but you know, even though that Feng Xi is good-looking, he's not as handsome as Anderson."
He paused, then added: "And not as handsome as me."
Daniel boasted: "After all, when it comes to looks, who can compare to us five?"
Chloe, who had originally wanted to scold him for changing the subject, was swayed by these words and said with satisfaction:
"That's true. There aren't many teams like ours with high aptitude, strong abilities, and such perfect looks."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
When Ren Yunying entered, this was the extremely shameless statement she heard.
She remained silent for a moment, then said: "I've never seen people like you before."
Hearing the voice, Chloe turned her head and immediately extended her hand happily: "Instructor Ren! What wind has blown you here again?"
Ren Yunying gave her a side-eye: "Stop trying to butter me up."
Among them all, Chloe had the sweetest mouth, and she was also the one who caused the most trouble.
Ren Yunying walked over: "This time, I'm mainly here to bring you all some clothes."
As soon as the words were spoken, several people instantly surrounded Ren Yunying.
Katherine's gaze fell on the bag Ren Yunying was holding: "Clothes?"
Daniel excitedly chirped: "Instructor Ren actually bought us clothes? How nice!"
He quickly added: "Is mine a pretty little dress?"
The room suddenly fell into silence.
Daniel looked at them, displeased:
"Are you discriminating against my hobby again?"
"No, we wouldn't dare," Chloe said while rummaging through the bag Ren Yunying had brought. She pulled out an exquisite little dress and tossed it to him, "Here you go. Look how much Instructor Ren spoils you."
