Daniel looked accusingly at Qin Huaibei. "You just let her get captured by those villains? Where's your conscience?!"
Qin Huaibei turned around expressionlessly, showing Daniel the hole in the back of his head. He said coldly, "Right here."
Daniel: "..."
He praised, "Well done."
Finally, Daniel stopped fixating on Qin Huaibei's conscience and turned to Chloe:
"What do we do now?"
"What can we do?" Chloe's voice was calm. "They didn't make a move for so long, but grabbed Katherine right when I escaped. It's obviously to force me to show myself."
Just as she said this, conveniently enough, a broadcast suddenly came from outside.
It was Katherine's voice.
She seemed to be forced to read from a note, but she was refusing.
After a loud crash, Katherine finally read out the contents of the note word by word:
"46th floor, Room 302, get here within 10 minutes, or don't blame us for what happens to your little friend... Idiots, who wrote this rubbish note?"
As soon as she finished speaking, there was another loud crash from the other side.
Daniel clenched his fists in anger, "They must be bullying Katherine, those beasts!"
Then he dejectedly lowered his eyes: "Why do I have to be the same race as them?"
"I hate them."
Daniel hated his own kind and felt guilty towards his friends.
Seeing how pitiful he looked, Chloe rubbed her sore eyes and comforted him:
"What they did has nothing to do with you. Don't feel too guilty."
Her tone turned cold as she continued, "46th floor, let's go see what they're up to."
Qin Huaibei stood up, took the bandages from Chloe's hand, and bit one end to wrap it around his head while following Daniel out of the isolation room.
Probably because of the broadcast, no one was coming to stop them now.
After bandaging the hole in the back of his head, Qin Huaibei's gaze immediately fell on Chloe:
"Your eyes?"
Chloe: "Blind."
"What?!" Qin Huaibei jumped up, sputtering incoherently, "No, did they do this too? Damn them, I'll throw them all in the lake to feed the fish!"
Blind... How could she be blind?
Chloe was so young, just a military school student and vampire heir. What would be the consequences if she couldn't see?
The more Qin Huaibei thought about it, the more anxious he became, until he finally burst into tears.
Daniel, who had been running ahead, noticed the strange sound behind him and looked back, horrified:
"What's wrong with you?!"
Qin Huaibei wiped his eyes, which were red and puffy, without saying a word.
Seeing this, Chloe seemed to understand something and couldn't help but feel amused. She said:
"Don't worry, it's temporary. They wouldn't dare to do anything permanent to me."
Qin Huaibei looked at Chloe's eyes, still not entirely reassured: "But what if?"
"If I disappear, Xavier will definitely send more people to look for me," Chloe's voice was calm. "His primary suspects would be the Werewolf Race, so he's surely putting pressure on them now."
"The Werewolf Race leadership hasn't done any irreparable damage to me so far. Even when we started to escape, they chose to kidnap Katherine, who has the least backing. This proves that they don't actually want to push things to the point of no return."
Of the four cubs who were captured, one was a vampire heir, one was the only son of the old Werewolf Marshal, another was the child of a human political tycoon, and only Katherine was a discarded priestess who would never be used again by the Elf Race.
Picking on the weakest target showed the true purpose of the Werewolf Race's actions this time.
Overall, it seemed the Werewolf Race was after Chloe this time.
Whether it was Qin Huaibei, Daniel, or Katherine, they were all actually implicated because of Chloe.
Thinking of this, Chloe smiled slightly:
"I don't even feel guilty yet, so you shouldn't be so sad."
Hearing this, Qin Huaibei's emotions finally stabilized a bit. He sniffled and said in a muffled voice:
"I got it."
As they spoke, they had already reached the 46th floor, outside Room 302.
Chloe got down from Daniel's back, spread out her senses, took a deep breath, and then calmly pushed open the door.
In the next instant, countless red laser dots fell on Chloe's forehead.
Not far ahead, many soldiers were holding laser guns, standing at the ready.
Chloe curled her lips: "Is this how you treat your guests? How rude."
The lead researcher was already familiar to everyone. He seemed to be the highest-ranking official in the entire research institute, with a head of hair that was a mix of gray and white.
Chloe decided to call him Messy Hair for now.
Messy Hair's expression was cold, looking very displeased. He said through gritted teeth:
"You beat our general into a cripple and covered him with a white cloth. That doesn't seem very polite either."
Hearing this, Chloe was slightly surprised, then sincerely apologized: "Is that so? I'm really sorry, we didn't mean to."
Although the girl's eyes couldn't see, her perception could still transmit everything she touched to her brain.
Therefore, Chloe's eyes were very bright and lively, making her look even more sincere.
But Messy Hair obviously wasn't appeased by this:
"Let's not talk about that."
As he spoke, he waved his hand, ordering someone to bring Katherine forward.
Unlike Daniel and Chloe who were covered in wounds, Katherine actually didn't seem to have any signs of injury. She didn't appear to have been harmed.
The moment she appeared, Qin Huaibei anxiously asked:
"Are you alright now?"
Katherine raised her eyes to look at him, her gaze lingering for a moment on the bandage on his head, then she slightly furrowed her brows.
Then she looked at the wounds on the others, her brows furrowing deeper, looking very unhappy.
She then nodded slightly: "I'm fine."
As soon as she finished speaking, Katherine was completely blocked from view by Messy Hair.
Chloe: "."
She said gently: "Could you please move aside? You're blocking our view of our friend."
"We don't particularly enjoy looking at a middle-aged male researcher who is not very handsome and bald."
Messy Hair: "..."
He gritted his teeth: "Are you feeling cocky now?"
Chloe humbly replied, "I wouldn't dare."
"But you haven't laid a hand on me until now, so I assume you don't want my life either, right?"
Chloe found standing tiresome, and these people hadn't offered her a stool.
She looked around, and Daniel, being very astute, used his sleeve to wipe the ground clean for her. Chloe sat down with satisfaction.
The assembled Werewolf Race members watched in disbelief as the Marshal's only child cleaned the floor for a Vampire girl: "..."
Chloe continued:
"I guess the pressure from outside the Werewolf Race is quite high, isn't it? Has my father already brought people here? If you really dared to harm me, you would have done it ages ago. Why wait until now to timidly call me over?"
Hearing this, Messy Hair clenched his fist, then said, "Yes, that's correct."
"So we only have one request now."
He reached out to take a vial from a nearby attendant:
"As long as you agree to take this, I'll send you to reunite with your daddy. How about that?"
