Two large tents were added to the border military camp.
Xavier occupied one tent, while Chloe and her little companions shared the other.
However, on this particular night, everyone was visibly excited.
Daniel was running back and forth in the tent, then approached Chloe and asked:
"Will that General really lose his patience and come here to make a move?"
"If so, shouldn't we make some preparations?"
Daniel made a throat-slitting gesture:
"When he comes, we'll smack him dead with one slap!"
Chloe: "..."
She rubbed her brow: "Why are you so rowdy?"
Hearing this, Daniel widened his eyes in disbelief: "You're already complaining about me being rowdy? Weren't you always the one making a ruckus with me before?!"
Chloe flatly denied it: "It wasn't me, it was clearly Qin Huaibei."
Qin Huaibei, unjustly accused, clenched his fist.
He looked at Chloe, then at Daniel, and finally chose to raise his fist and punch Daniel.
Daniel took a hit on his arm but surprisingly didn't get angry. He just brushed off the dust on his arm and continued questioning:
"Does that so-called General really make people lick his boots?"
"Haven't I already told you?" Chloe flopped onto the iron-framed bed, "That's just the kind of person the General is."
"It's truly disgusting."
Daniel agreed wholeheartedly: "Even the Werewolf Race doesn't have such revolting fetishes."
Qin Huaibei, while making the bed, chimed in:
"Not necessarily. There are so many weird fetishes in this world. Your Werewolf Race might have them too, they're just well-hidden or you haven't encountered them yet."
At the thought of this possibility, Daniel immediately showed an expression of disgust.
"Let's not talk about this anymore." Daniel bounced onto the bed, and suddenly he sprang up high!
Daniel was startled, let out a yelp, and fell back onto the bed.
He was completely bewildered:
"What kind of magical bed is this?"
Chloe glanced at him: "It's an iron-framed spring bed. Children shouldn't sleep on it too much, it can deform your spine."
Hearing this, Daniel felt his bed, seemingly quite attached to it.
"That's great, it can be used as a trampoline."
The young ones chatted idly in the tent, and after about half an hour, they had all basically fallen asleep.
Chloe's eyelashes fluttered, and she moved her fingers to set up an alarm barrier outside the tent.
Three days is neither long nor short.
During this time, the General had been confined to his large tent and never came out.
Xavier was in charge of all military affairs, big and small. Occasionally, some soldiers would ask what crime the General had committed.
But they were often dragged away by their companions before saying much.
Did they eat a bear's heart and a leopard's gall? How dare they say such things in front of the Ancestor Lord.
The first day passed uneventfully.
The second day passed, still uneventfully.
Until the third day, it was said that the General called for a soldier outside to help him bring food.
Chloe immediately realized that this person probably couldn't hold back anymore.
For the past two days, Xavier had personally delivered the General's meals, leaving the General no opportunity to tamper with anything.
This time, Xavier pretended to be busy and hadn't gone to deliver the General's meal. Whether the General was hungry or just couldn't resist anymore, he immediately called a soldier into his tent.
Chloe was familiar with that soldier; Aaron had mentioned him before.
Reportedly, he was the General's most favored confidant and also the ringleader in bullying Aaron.
Daniel spat out the wild grass he had been chewing on and declared confidently:
"He's definitely up to something."
As he spoke, he gripped the brick in his hand, weighing it and pondering to himself:
"Do you think this thing could beat him to death?"
Daniel carefully felt the weight of the brick, then mused:
"I've heard that some mysterious Eastern powers are activated by bricks."
"One brick strike, and both body and soul are destroyed."
Qin Huaibei's lips curled up: "You can try it on your own head first."
Daniel pouted: "I'm not that stupid."
As they were talking, Chloe got up from the ground, grabbing a handful of sand. She said goodbye to Qin Huaibei and the others and headed towards the General's tent.
Seeing this, Daniel shouted:
"Where are you going?"
Chloe turned back and made a "shush" gesture, signaling him to lower his voice, then continued walking forward.
She looked quite serious, so Daniel and the others looked at each other and finally chose to follow her.
The General's tent probably had a sound barrier set up, as it was impossible to hear any sound from inside when outside.
Well, at least he was cautious.
Chloe looked around, making sure no soldiers in the camp were watching her, then leaped directly onto the upper layer of this large tent.
She was young and light, and with intentional control, she landed silently after jumping up.
Not only did Qin Huaibei and the others outside not hear any sound, but the General and the soldier inside surely didn't hear anything either.
Qin Huaibei gave Chloe a thumbs up.
Chloe smiled, then gestured for them to wait below while she took out a dagger and cut a small hole in the top of the tent to look inside.
As she watched, she also spread her perception through this small hole into the tent to transmit the sound back.
Chloe did this successfully without making any noise, and the General, who was discussing strategies with the soldier, didn't notice anything unusual.
She saw the General hand something to the soldier and say in a low voice:
"This is how it is, do you understand my meaning?"
The soldier hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
The General persuaded gently: "This drug isn't lethal, it just has some dizzying effects. You and I are both Vampire Citizens, how could I possibly harm His Majesty?"
Hearing this, the soldier's eyes brightened, and he nodded his head vigorously twice.
The General smiled with satisfaction: "That's right, now go and do your job, good boy."
Chloe looked closely and saw that the soldier was holding a bag of white powder.
The Vampire People indeed had absolute faith in Xavier, but some people were too despicable, lying and deceiving the public.
Remembering the General's characteristic of being uncontrolled by Xavier and unable to be perceived, Chloe licked her lips and revealed a cold smile.
She didn't believe for a second that this drug powder wasn't poisonous.
The soldier left the tent with the drug powder.
Chloe stood up from the top level and was about to leave after covering the punctured tent with a piece of ragged cloth.
Just as she finished covering the tent, a familiar scent wafted from behind her.
The newcomer directly lifted Chloe up and lightly descended from the tent.
Chloe, somewhat annoyed, patted the hands of the person behind her: "Put me down! It's not like I don't have legs!"
Kewen: "I know, young miss, but the Ancestor Lord instructed me to take good care of your life safety during this period."
As the words fell, Chloe raised her head to look at Kewen, the fangs at the corner of her lips glinting faintly in the sunlight:
"I have enough ability to protect myself, Kewen. You can't protect me like a rose about to wither. I'm not that fragile yet."
