"So you mean Anderson went to see that baldy early this morning?"
Daniel asked as he ate a piece of bread.
Chloe pretended to rebuke him seriously:
"What baldy? He's Francis, the Grand Duke."
"Yeah, right." Daniel didn't seem to care. "That bald head of his doesn't have a single hair in the middle of his skull. Besides, I'm not a Vampire, why should I call him 'Grand Duke' like you guys?"
He even called him a baldy otter, which showed some manners on his part.
While they were bickering, Katherine expressed some concern:
"I just have a feeling that Francis isn't a good person. Will Anderson be okay going there alone?"
"Don't worry," Chloe said nonchalantly. "Xavier sent someone to follow him. With Kewen there, there won't be any major issues."
Hearing this, everyone felt relieved.
Not long after, they arrived at an underground room in the Vampire Manor.
Upon opening the door, they were met with a shiny metallic floor and a vast space filled with various state-of-the-art thermal weapons.
Qin Huaibei instantly opened his eyes wide: "What is this place?"
"It's my private training room." Chloe was the first to walk in, touching an Ion Cannon placed against the wall. "Feel free to use it. The weapons here are regularly replaced, maintained, and repaired, so it's fine if they get damaged."
Qin Huaibei's eyes almost popped out as he stared at the latest Ion Cannon, muttering:
"Even if you gave me a hundred lives, I wouldn't dare to break this."
Daniel chimed in from the side: "It's not about whether we dare to break it or not, but that we simply don't have the ability to do so."
All the weapons here were the latest, highest quality, and most expensive models. Ordinary people would find it difficult to even scratch them, let alone completely destroy them.
"It's fine," Chloe said casually. "Before, whenever I had an argument with Xavier, I would deliberately damage things here just to make him angry."
Everyone: "..."
Qin Huaibei stroked the sturdy weapon barrel in his hand, shaking his head in awe: "...and you were able to break these?"
"So did your dad beat you up in the end?"
Chloe paused for a moment, then shook her head with some regret: "No, he just got me a new batch of weapons, and then never bothered about it again."
Looking back, Xavier's emotions were so terrifyingly stable that in Chloe's memory, he always seemed to have this imperturbable, unflappable demeanor.
No matter what kind of trouble she caused, it was insignificant in Xavier's eyes, something he could easily wave his hand and resolve.
Chloe had never seen Xavier get angry.
After hearing Chloe's account, Daniel cursed:
"If that's the case, your dad is a real freak."
As he said this, he hoisted an Ion Cannon onto his shoulder, aimed at the bullseye ahead, and said:
"People like that, who seem calm on the surface, must be incurable lunatics on the inside. No wonder you Vampires are so powerful. I don't think our Wolf King can beat your dad."
A lunatic?
That term might not be entirely accurate to describe Xavier, but if you consider Daniel's words, it suddenly seemed quite fitting.
Chloe turned on the simulation capsule switch, agreeing: "I think you're right."
Even if Xavier was indeed a lunatic, so what?
To Chloe, Xavier had always been... a good father.
Well, at least he could pass for a decent father.
After this exchange, the training room fell silent, with only the sounds of gunfire and clashing blades.
At this point, they were all quite self-disciplined.
Chloe put on the simulation capsule helmet and randomly selected a battle scenario, immediately being transported into a virtual world of combat.
Daniel shouldered an Ion Cannon, while Katherine drew her bow, both practicing their shooting.
Qin Huaibei unsheathed a sword, engaging in back-and-forth sparring with the robot opponents.
After some time, Daniel let out a cheer:
"I hit the eighth ring!"
When they had first met, Chloe had told him that he should be able to consistently shoot within the eighth ring. Daniel had no natural talent for shooting and could only practice day after day without ever succeeding, until today...
Daniel was so excited that he wanted to jump up and down.
He rushed over and hugged Katherine, nearly getting poked in the eye by an arrow. Then he ran to Qin Huaibei and almost got stabbed in the chest by a sword.
Qin Huaibei's forehead vein throbbed: "Can't you be a bit more composed?"
Daniel, who had narrowly escaped death several times, paid no heed and went straight to Chloe, about to hug her as well. But he stopped midway through the motion.
He hesitated for a moment, then obediently curled up and squatted beside the simulation capsule chair, waiting patiently for Chloe to finish her training.
Seeing this, Qin Huaibei whistled:
"Oh, why didn't you just pounce on her this time?"
Daniel glared at him, then muttered:
"You guys don't understand. This girl hits hard. If I disturbed her, she would definitely give me a good beating."
For the sake of his own safety, he decided not to bother Chloe for now.
Daniel felt he was being incredibly wise.
Qin Huaibei sneered: "Pathetic."
Daniel thought to himself, 'Isn't that right? I am being sensible.'
After some time, Chloe finally finished her training in the simulation capsule and prepared to get up from the chair.
But as she extended her leg, she ended up kicking Daniel directly.
Chloe: "..."
She slowly straightened her body: "What's wrong with you, squatting here?"
Daniel didn't seem to mind being kicked as he stood up, smugly pointing at the scorch marks on the distant target:
"Look, I hit the eighth ring."
He then emphasized, "That's ten consecutive shots within the eighth ring."
Hearing this, Chloe raised her eyebrows in surprise and followed Daniel's finger, indeed finding several scorch marks within the eighth ring of the target.
She blinked: "When did this happen? You remember it so clearly?"
"Of course!" Daniel exclaimed. "I've been practicing diligently on the tasks you assigned. Aren't I awesome?"
Seeing the smug expression on the young man's face, Chloe couldn't help but laugh and gave him a thumbs up, not sparing any praise:
"Awesome, that's you. You're the most awesome."
Daniel's eyes instantly lit up, and if his tail were exposed, it would surely be wagging rapidly.
"Hmph, of course not, who am I? If I set my mind on doing something, there's hardly anything I can't accomplish."
After saying that, Daniel walked over to Qin Huaibei's side, his nose nearly reaching up to the sky:
"Hey, want me to teach you how to shoot?"
Qin Huaibei looked at him silently, reminding him, "I can consistently hit 9 out of 10 rings."
Daniel choked, "..."
He angrily cursed, "So what if it's 9 rings, I can do that too!"
With that, he stomped off and picked up the Ion Cannon to continue practicing.
