They hadn't been able to chat casually for long when they suddenly became excited by a familiar voice in the distance.
Chloe squinted her eyes to identify it carefully:
"Sounds like Kamen."
This guy actually had the nerve to attend The No.1 Military Academy's anniversary?
Chloe's face was full of shock.
"It would be strange if he didn't come," Daniel rolled his eyes, extremely indignant. "He has a powerful father, and he's his father's only son. Even though Brut Military Academy's reputation and strength have declined significantly, it doesn't affect Kamen's status at Brut at all."
"On the contrary, it's precisely because of this that Brut Military Academy relies more on Kamen and his father's influence to survive," Anderson calmly added.
Daniel muttered, "I really hate this bureaucratic capitalist approach."
He ran his hand through his hair on his forehead. "A perfectly good military academy ended up like this, they deserved it."
Chloe listened in silence, realizing it was indeed the case.
The headmaster of the military academy had no real power, and had to consult his subordinate students for every decision.
How frustrating that must be.
This was the drawback of military academies being established within races.
Any military academy that gained prominence and strength would inevitably catch the attention of the racial leader, who would then promote their people to take over the leadership.
The leader would provide resources to the military academy that others could hardly access, but in return, the academy would have to follow the leader's commands in all aspects.
Fortunately, none of these rules applied to The No.1 Military Academy.
Because The No.1 Military Academy was not under the protection of any racial leader, and because it was a mixed school, it wasn't taken seriously from the outside, which ironically made it the military academy with the most leadership autonomy.
Chloe sighed, "The No.1 Military Academy is still the best."
Daniel expressed his wholehearted agreement.
As they spoke, Chloe noticed that Kamen seemed to be walking towards them.
The two fell silent, focusing their attention on Kamen's approaching figure.
Finally, he stood in front of the three of them.
He really was here to see them.
Chloe let out a laugh, her opening words perfectly matching her arrogant persona:
"What's up, here for a beating?"
With just one sentence, she successfully infuriated Kamen, making his face turn red with anger.
He glared at Chloe fiercely and said in an aggressive tone, "No!"
Chloe raised an eyebrow, "I don't believe you."
Otherwise, Chloe couldn't fathom why he would have traveled all this way, as their relationship was already poor, bordering on a deadly feud.
Unless he was here for a beating, he couldn't possibly be here just to utter empty threats, could he? That would be too foolish.
Chloe and Daniel exchanged a knowing glance.
Then, they heard Kamen's arrogant voice:
"You just wait, even if Brut Military Academy has fallen, I still have ways to deal with you! Especially you, Daniel."
Chloe: "..."
He really was here just to make threats.
It seemed her earlier judgement was premature, as there were indeed people foolish beyond salvation in this world.
And Chloe was definitely not referring to Daniel.
Chloe didn't feel the slightest bit of anger.
Or perhaps, when someone became so foolish and weak to a certain extent, their provocations no longer posed any threat.
Chloe smiled and said, "Need me to remind you? This is The No.1 Military Academy's territory, our home turf."
Anderson calmly added from the side, "If you insist on causing trouble here, don't blame us for not holding back."
Upon meeting Anderson's gaze, Kamen couldn't help but take half a step back.
The memory of being pinned to the ground by Anderson was still vivid.
That feeling was akin to being tortured.
He tried to put on a tough front, deciding to target the easier prey, and turned directly to Daniel:
"Just you wait, when you return to the Werewolf Race, you'll see how my father will deal with you!"
Daniel let out a "ha" sound, hardly believing what he had just heard:
"It's always 'your father this, your mother that.' Are you so grown up that you still need your parents to help you change diapers?"
The corner of Chloe's lips curved upwards.
Anderson let out an unrestrained snort of laughter.
Even the nearby guests couldn't help but let out some chuckles.
That remark packed a powerful punch.
Kamen's face turned red, then white, as he furiously shouted:
"You just keep acting arrogant here, I'll see how cocky you are when you return to the Werewolf Race territory!"
With that, he turned and walked away, his retreating figure could almost be described as a hasty escape.
Daniel was never a good guy, and even without resorting to physical violence, he had to get the last word in verbally.
Even as Kamen left, it didn't stop Daniel from taunting him:
"How am I being arrogant? As long as I'm alive, I'll still be arrogant! Not only will I beat you up here, but when we return to the race territory, I'll beat you up in front of your father too!"
If he didn't beat Kamen until he cried for his daddy and mommy, begging them to help change his diapers, then he wouldn't be Daniel.
Seeing Kamen walk away faster and faster, Daniel snorted, "Look at that, what a pathetic display."
Their commotion, neither too loud nor too quiet, had drawn the attention of nearly everyone around them.
Including the military district leaders not too far away.
Qin Huaibei and Katherine happened to use this as an excuse to come over and meet with Chloe and the others.
When they came out, their hair was a bit disheveled.
"Didn't expect you to be so bold, kid," Qin Huaibei glanced at the military district leaders behind him, then quickly averted his gaze, picking up a small egg tart from the table and putting it in his mouth. "You really want to beat him up in front of his parents?"
When she heard those words, Chloe also felt a great deal of admiration.
"Not bad, you've got guts."
Daniel scoffed and lowered his voice, "Why do you believe everything I say? I'd have to be crazy to go and beat someone up in front of that kid's parents."
He frowned and touched his arm, "You guys don't know how arrogant Kamen's father is in the race territory. Even the Wolf King has to give him some face."
Chloe commented, "Someone like that would be sentenced to decapitation in the Vampire race."
Qin Huaibei also agreed, "Someone like that in the Human Race would be dismissed and investigated, or even exiled in severe cases."
Anderson remarked indifferently, "The Werewolf Race is rotten to the core."
His gaze fell on Katherine again, "I suppose the Elf Race is probably not much different."
Indeed, Daniel and Katherine could not deny it.
However, it was clear that these were not matters the cubs needed to ponder. For now, their foremost priority was to fill their bellies when the banquet officially commenced.
Chloe and the others sat beside Ren Yunying, their eyes gleaming as they gazed at the assortment of delicacies laid out on the long table before them.
Their table was mostly occupied by leaders and adults, who engaged in endless discussions over the meal, merely moving their chopsticks a few times.
This certainly worked in favor of the cubs, as no one was competing with them for the food!
While smiling and conversing with leaders from various circles, Ren Yunying listened to the sound of the cubs, led by Chloe, devouring their food like a whirlwind.
Her smile grew increasingly stiff.
Across from her, the military district commander pointed to his own mouth corner and asked, puzzled:
"Instructor Ren, what's going on?"
Ren Yunying's smile suddenly became natural and sincere. "Nothing, Mr. Zhang. Let me propose a toast to you."
As the liquid slowly trickled down her throat, Ren Yunying glanced at the cubs beside her.
A bunch of little bunnies.
She cursed inwardly while sliding the solid dishes in front of her towards Chloe's side.
