The boss took out all the parts Ling Yue needed and put them aside, "You sit over there for a while. Let me assemble this customer's computer first, then I'll help you assemble yours."
Ling Yue nodded and went to sit on a chair at the side.
The boss walked to the customer and continued the assembly.
Ling Yue watched the boss assemble the computer and felt it didn't seem too difficult. She stood up and walked to the pile of parts she had chosen earlier. She took them out of the packaging one by one and started assembling.
The boss glanced at Ling Yue and smiled. This young lady was quite interesting, but assembling a computer wasn't as easy as she thought. Computers had just started becoming popular in the country not too long ago. There weren't many professionals who knew how to assemble them yet. He had studied for a long time before learning how.
After the boss finished assembling the customer's computer, he walked to Ling Yue's side, "Young lady, let me..." He stopped abruptly because Ling Yue had assembled the parts perfectly.
"Looks like she's a professional." The boss looked at Ling Yue with appreciation in his eyes, "Young lady, are you interested in working at my shop?" His business was doing very well. Sometimes he was too busy to handle it alone so hiring someone would allow him to relax a bit.
"Thank you, but I don't want a job right now!" Ling Yue politely declined with a smile. She took out some money and handed it to the boss, "Boss, do you provide delivery services here?" The desktop and monitor weren't too heavy, but the screen was too big. If she took them home like this, she would definitely scare Granny Xu. After all, she was still injured.
"No, but I can call a trishaw for you." Nowadays, many people came to the digital district to buy computers, so there were more trishaws for deliveries.
"That would be great, thanks." Ling Yue smiled politely in thanks.
"You're welcome." The boss picked up the phone and called Old Li the trishaw driver, "Old Li, I have a customer here who needs delivery. Please come over. Okay, come quickly."
After putting down the phone, the boss saw another customer come in. "Young lady, please take a seat and wait. The trishaw driver will be here very soon."
"Okay." Ling Yue nodded.
After a short while, the trishaw driver arrived. "Boss Yang, which customer needs the delivery?"
"That young lady over there." The boss handed a motherboard to his customer and pointed at Ling Yue.
The trishaw driver walked to Ling Yue, "Young lady, where should I deliver this to?"
"Please help me deliver this computer to East Street, thanks." Ling Yue stood up and pointed at the computer on the floor.
"No problem." The trishaw driver walked to the computer, bent down to lift up the desktop and monitor, and walked towards the door.
Ling Yue picked up the box containing the keyboard and mouse and followed the driver out.
After loading everything onto the trishaw and settling on a price, Ling Yue got on.
Granny Xu was worried when Ling Yue still hadn't returned after a long time. She walked to the alley entrance and looked out, "Why isn't the young miss back yet? I hope nothing happened to her!" The Ling family had just announced disowning her. She was truly worried Ling Yue might do something reckless in her distress. She should have gone with her earlier.
Seeing a trishaw approaching from afar with Ling Yue sitting inside, Granny Xu finally felt relieved. She quickly went up to greet her, "Young miss, you're back. Nothing happened right?" Her gaze looked Ling Yue up and down.
Ling Yue waited until the trishaw stopped steadily before jumping down.
"Be careful, don't hurt yourself." Granny Xu quickly went up to support Ling Yue.
Ling Yue smiled and held Granny Xu's arm, "I'm fine. I went to buy a computer. Driver, please bring the trishaw into the alley. It's the last house."
"What's a computer?" Granny Xu had never heard of such a thing in her life.
"You'll know in a bit." Ling Yue gave a mischievous smile and pulled Granny Xu towards the alley.
After the driver carried the computer into the house, Ling Yue took out some money and handed it to him along with a cup of water, "Have some water, driver."
The driver smiled and accepted the money and water. He gulped down a few mouthfuls and returned the cup to Ling Yue, "Young lady, please call me anytime if you need delivery services again. Here's my number."
"Sure." Ling Yue recorded down his number.
After the driver left, Ling Yue and Granny Xu carried the computer into her room together.
"Young miss, can we watch TV on this?" Granny Xu saw the computer monitor looked similar to a TV.
Ling Yue connected the keyboard and mouse. "We can, but there needs to be an Internet connection first."
"What does this net look like? Let me connect it for you." Granny Xu thought it was some kind of woven net.
"It's a virtual network. We need to apply for it at the telecoms office first before we can use it." Ling Yue patiently explained again.
Granny Xu smiled awkwardly, "There are so many new gadgets nowadays. Young miss, are you hungry? Let me go make soup so we can have dinner soon."
Granny Xu was already walking out of the room as she spoke.
Ling Yue smiled softly. She retracted her gaze and her fingers quickly tapped on the keyboard. Without an Internet connection, there wasn't much she could do now.
After dinner, Ling Yue continued practicing martial arts in the yard. She planned to apply for broadband services at the telecoms office tomorrow. She had quite a bit of savings now and intended to make full use of it.
After absorbing the stellar energy, Ling Yue returned to her room and unwrapped the bandages on her body. As the layers of gauze came off, the once scarred face now showed no visible marks. Being able to heal so quickly was not only due to absorbing stellar energy but more importantly, spiritual energy. Otherwise, it would have taken at least a week to fully recover.
Looking at her exquisite and beautiful face in the mirror, Ling Yue raised her hand and stroked her smooth and delicate cheek, curving her lips in satisfaction. "This face is quite similar to my previous life's, about seventy to eighty percent. It must have been predestined for me to be reborn in this body." She took out fresh gauze from the drawer and rewrapped herself before going to bed.
Time passed swiftly overnight. After breakfast, Ling Yue went to the telecoms office to apply for services. On her way across a bridge, she noticed a young man standing on the riverbank below staring blankly at the water.
She looked away and continued walking. After taking a few steps, there was a "splash" indicating something had fallen into the water. Ling Yue glanced back and saw that the young man had fallen into the river.
"Someone fell into the river, come help!" Someone noticed him fall in and shouted loudly.
Ling Yue hesitated briefly before turning around and walking towards the bridge.
Just as she was about to jump in and save him, someone else had beaten her to it.
It seemed like the young man was determined to die. He pushed forcefully against his would-be rescuer.
Seeing this, Ling Yue rolled her eyes silently and turned to leave. Since he was so desperate to die, saving him would be pointless.
