The Female Taoist Priestess’s Childhood Sweetheart Is a Male CEO

Chapter 8

Ten minutes later, Jian Xi came out of the police station with a small note in her hand. She lowered her head and took a look at the note in her hand.

888 Tian Tian Road, He Group, B City

Jian Xi carefully folded the note and put it in her little bag, then walked towards the subway station.

On the way, she passed by a breakfast shop and bought breakfast - two buns and a soy milk, costing 10 dollars in total. Jian Xi felt heartache, thinking that B City is indeed the most prosperous city, with prices several times higher than Z City! In Z City, 10 dollars could buy two breakfasts!

Jian Xi took out her phone to check the time. It was still early. There was a park nearby, so she decided to finish her breakfast before taking the subway.

She found a bench and sat down to eat her breakfast. As she ate, she took out that old mobile phone and opened it, looking at the blank contact list. Jian Xi felt helpless. Her master would never take the initiative to contact anyone, so there was no one at all in his contact list, not even the phone numbers of his fellow apprentices!

So now with this phone, the only use for her was to check the time!

Jian Xi quickly finished her breakfast, threw the trash into the park's trash can, and got ready to leave the park for the subway station.

Suddenly, someone patted her. She turned around and saw it was the auntie from last night!

"Young lady, it really is you! I knew I didn't see wrongly! How was it, did you get hurt anywhere last night? You've got guts rushing directly towards that big guy, simply remarkable!" said the auntie, giving her a thumbs up.

Jian Xi smiled. "Thank you, auntie. I know some self-defense techniques. Dealing with that guy was easy. But you too, auntie!" She also gave a thumbs up to the auntie.

The auntie laughed too, sounding somewhat proud, "I know right, that's what I thought too! But I didn't dare tell my old man about this. If he knew, who knows how long he would nag at me!"

Then, the auntie noticed the baggage on Jian Xi's shoulder. Nowadays, which youngster still carried cloth bundles when going out? Judging from the girl's outfit though, her family must be very poor. No, she had to help her. "Young lady, I've got a new small luggage bag at home. It's brand new. Take it if you don't mind. I live nearby. Wait for me here, I'll go grab it for you."

Jian Xi quickly waved her hands. "Thank you, auntie, but this baggage isn't heavy. You should keep it for your own use."

"I won the luggage bag from a supermarket lottery. It's been sitting at home ever since. I hardly go out, how could I have any use of something like that!" said the auntie with a laugh.

Jian Xi patted the auntie's hand that was grabbing her arm. "You'll be using it real soon!"

"Impossible, how could I..." Before the auntie could finish speaking, her phone rang.

You're my most beautiful cloud in the horizon,

I pour wine to make you stay,

Hey! Stay!

After ending the call in a short while, the excited auntie looked to Jian Xi, "Oh my! Girl you're truly psychic, how did you know I'm leaving for a long trip? My daughter just called me, she said she's pregnant and misses me, asking me to stay with her for some time!"

"Congratulations auntie! Hurry back and pack up, or you'll miss the last bus!" Jian Xi laughingly reminded.

The auntie slapped her thigh. "Oh heavens, the morning bus! I've got to rush home and pack!"

Jian Xi waved her hands at her. "Farewell, auntie!"

After the auntie had left, Jian Xi started walking too.

Soon she arrived at the subway station. After studying the routes for a bit, she found that her brother's company was located at the central business district downtown, so there were many lines that went there.

She picked the nearest one – Line 3. What a coincidence, her current location was right by Line 3.

It was the nearest route alright, but it was also the most crowded. Looking over, it was a sea of people.

Instead of squeezing with them, she stood aside and waited for the next train. She wasn't in that big of a rush anyway.

The next train soon came, but upon a backward glance, Jian Xi saw that the crowds remained the same. Still, she had gotten a spot right at the front this time.

Getting onto the train, there were hardly any seats left. Of course – this train was the fastest route to downtown, so it was packed full of professionals commuting to work. No matter the time, it would always be jam-packed.

Jian Xi sighed. Life moved quick in a bustling city. She was used to freedom and getting doted on back in the mountains. Would she be able to adapt to such a lifestyle? She couldn't always rely on her brother either. He would start his own family sooner or later. She couldn't stay by his side forever.

Thinking of her pathetic fortunes though, oh well, might as well depend on her brother for the time being first.

Upon getting off the subway downtown, Jian Xi was somewhat stunned when faced with the soaring towers before her. So this was where her brother worked?

After asking a passerby for directions, she quickly arrived at He Group headquarters.

Everyone who passed by would give Jian Xi a second look from when she appeared at the He Group entrance. But she was completely oblivious right now, still shocked by the magnificently tall building in front of her.

She craned her neck upwards. My god, it's so tall! Her brother worked at the top floor of this highest tower!

She murmured proudly, "As expected of my brother! So awesome! Just not sure what he does..." Though she had asked the young policeman, but he didn't tell her.

Wasting no more time, she strode into He Group, arriving at the front desk on the first floor.

Sitting at the front desk were two young female receptionists. Jian Xi spoke up, "Hello, may I ask if there's someone called He Qingchen here?"

Chen Xueyan glanced at Jian Xi's face, then at the cloth bundle over her shoulder. She didn't stand up, and spoke harshly, "Do you have an appointment?"

Need an appointment to see my brother? Is his position very high?

"I don't have an appointment. I'm his sister. Could you please help me contact him?" Jian Xi asked politely.

"Sister?" Chen Xueyan laughed and rolled her eyes at Jian Xi. "Our CEO only has one older sister. Where did this sister pop up from? No appointment, no entry. Leave quickly!"

CEO?

Jian Xi was stunned. Her brother was He Group's CEO?

The female receptionist beside Chen Xueyan quickly stood up and smiled at Jian Xi. "I'm sorry, but you do need an appointment with our CEO in order to meet him. Please make an appointment with Mr. He first before we can let you in."
