"Don't let him affect you, keep at it," the defeated seniors encouraged Qiao Yi.
Qiao Yi ignored the other side's provocation and placed his hands on the keyboard to carefully search for vulnerabilities.
Gradually, Qiao Yi lost his sense of direction and thoughts, and became somewhat at a loss on how to proceed. Fine sweat beaded on his forehead.
Looking at that mixed-race guy, he was completely relaxed.
Qiao Yi concentrated his efforts and racked his brains when he suddenly heard the other say, "It's over."
Qiao Yi was stunned and turned to look. The man had turned his computer screen to face him, then crossed his arms and looked at him with eyes full of disdain.
"Did we lose?"
"It seems the rumors are not exaggerated. This mixed-race guy really is quite capable. His hacker master wouldn't happen to be X, would he?"
"Like hell, how could hacker X take on disciples? And take on this kind of cocky one? Don't insult my vision of a god among men."
"Right, hacker X would take on hacker Y at best. This little punk doesn't amount to shit. He just throws his weight around at school."
"To actually lose, although I was mentally prepared, it's still such a shame. I thought Qiao Yi could do it."
"He already did very well. The other guy's only a freshman and he's already better than three seniors."
In the stands,
Capital University students sighed and lamented while Hanxi exhaled in relief and loudly cheered their victory.
Qiao Yi just stared at the other guy for two seconds before continuing to operate his computer, unaffected by the stands.
Seeing Qiao Yi's actions, the mixed-race guy sneered coldly, "Don't waste your energy embarrassing yourself here. You won't find it."
Qiao Yi's hands kept moving. "There is no shame in defeat; only failing to recognize when you've met your match is true failure."
The mixed-race guy retorted, "Still not admitting defeat even when the coffin is right in front of you. Dressing up inability to lose in nice terms like perseverance - that's what I hate most about you Chinese."
Sack warned coldly, "Shut up, stop distracting him."
The mixed-race guy looked towards Sack not far behind Qiao Yi, then stood up and disdainfully said, "Did I say anything wrong? Everyone knows the level of Chinese computer skills ranks at the bottom globally."
The mixed-race guy laughed and held up his little finger.
"Damn, I really want to rush up there and punch that guy."
"Even though he's from the same school, he insulted my homeland. I can't stand it!" The spectators were furious.
Huo Chengdong furled up his banner. "Fuck off, watch that dirty mouth. Old goat farting arrogantly. Mongrel, where'd you get that superiority complex from? You're of Chinese descent from South Africa, right? Not yellow or black enough, damn you. Your ancestors wouldn't even recognize you. If China is so unbearable, why the hell are you studying here? If you look down on us that much, go find a knife and drain the Chinese blood from your body, bitch. Arrogant old hen climbing onto the roof. Who the fuck do you think you are?"
The mixed-race guy's face turned ugly from Huo Chengdong's lengthy string of curses, not understanding some parts but knowing they were definitely extremely offensive.
He gritted his teeth and taunted, "This May, when your China's networks were paralyzed, causing huge economic losses nationwide and not one person could solve it, the whole world found out about that joke!"
Huo Chengdong: "So what if they know? You do it? Have the ability to paralyze networks nationwide? That was caused by Chinese entrepreneur Qin Hanyue. A pure blood."
Mixed-race: "Humph. So capable? Is he on the global hacker list? Of the top ten, I know of none that are Chinese. Trash is trash."
Sack: "I told you to stop distracting him!"
Sack's face was cold, his eyes fierce with killing intent. Compared to his earlier warning, this time it was clearly an angry roar.
The mixed-race guy was a little scared by Sack but still defiantly said, "Sore loser shouldn't have come to compete. Garbage!"
Sack reached his limit of tolerance. Consumed by rage, without another word he clenched his fist and rushed at the mixed-race guy.
Not one to back down easily either, they were both hot-blooded youths - things escalated as soon as they made contact.
The scene descended into chaos.
Qiao Yi was frightened and immediately stood to stop Sack.
Huo Chengdong also hurried to help. "Hey, hey, hey, Sack, Sack, don't be impulsive, no fighting allowed!"
Huo Chengdong dragging Sack - this familiar scene gave him an odd feeling, like something wasn't right.
He soon realized what was off - his act was stolen?
Wasn't he the one who was supposed to lose his temper and want to fight while others held him back? Wasn't this his home turf?
He never expected there'd come a day he had to play peacemaker.
Didn't look like it, but this Sack had a worse temper than him!
Hmm, he liked that.
"Student, calm down. This isn't the place to brawl," the teachers hurriedly pulled them apart and admonished Sack.
The friendly competition that was going so well had degraded into a brawl.
They all pitched in effort to get the situation under control.
Qiao Yi pulled Sack back and apologetically said to him, "The prize is gone."
Sack didn't respond. He stepped forward two paces to take Qiao Yi's computer and simply said, "Let's go back."
Then he strode off.
After avenging his previous humiliation, Hanxi University President was the first to rush over to Capital University President Zhang Chengyong, grinning ear to ear.
Zhang Chengyong heard Capital lost. Guessing Hanxi President came to gloat, he was already prepared to go home when the old fella managed to block him at the door.
Zhang Chengyong brewed some tea and amiably congratulated Hanxi President.
But right then, something happened at Capital University.
The Department Head rushed in looking anxious with a laptop, saying urgently, "Trouble, big trouble!"
Seeing Hanxi President there, Department Head immediately shut his mouth.
Zhang Chengyong asked: "What's the matter?"
It was a major incident, the situation was urgent, so Department Head didn't care that Hanxi President was present. Capital University's reputation would be damaged.
He showed Zhang Chengyong the glitching laptop, "Our school network got attacked by an unknown source. Campus network, forums, databases, repositories - everything's gone wrong. Especially the research buildings, those data may leak!"
Zhang Chengyong was shocked to hear this. His expression changed, "Hurry find the tech team! Called the cops?"
As one of China's top institutions, Capital University's network system was provided by the government and was like an impenetrable fortress.
It had never been breached before.
Misfortunes come in threes.
Qiao Ying returned from the counselor's office to the computer lab and seeing her glitching laptop, swore under her breath, "Fuck."
Who touched her computer?
The culprits stood to the side. "Qiao...Qiao the campus belle, we didn't mean it..."
