The Tyrannosaurus Rex had extraordinary self-healing abilities, which Yu Qingxian knew.
But when she saw lightning surging across the Tyrannosaurus Rex's body, she was still somewhat surprised.
It seemed that the Tyrannosaurus Rex was not a mere mutated animal, but a dog with special abilities.
Crackling with electricity, it charged straight ahead and swiped with its claw, instantly tearing away half the brain of the first zombie reindeer.
The zombie reindeer's brain matter splattered across the ground, and its body swayed before crashing down with a thud.
Clearly, the Tyrannosaurus Rex had abundant combat experience.
It knew exactly how to kill the zombies.
But then again, its neck had been bleeding for the past six months.
And zombie animals were exceptionally sensitive to the scent of blood.
For the Tyrannosaurus Rex to have survived with a fatal wound for half a year, it truly lived up to its name.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex made short work of the few zombie deer.
But it didn't leave immediately, instead using its claws to dig around in the deer's brains.
Yu Qingxian heard the Tyrannosaurus Rex grunting towards her after it finished digging.
Thinking that perhaps a deer's skull bone was stuck in its paw, she naturally went over to take a look.
To her surprise, the Tyrannosaurus Rex pushed two Crystal Cores towards her.
Yu Qingxian: ....
Was she a monkey in a zoo for everyone to want to feed her?
The advanced zombies were one thing, but even a dog wanted to feed her?
Did she look like she was about to starve to death?
"For me? No need, you eat them yourself." Yu Qingxian waved her hand, indicating she wouldn't eat them.
Seeing Yu Qingxian's refusal, the Tyrannosaurus Rex lowered its head and swallowed the two Crystal Cores.
Yu Qingxian returned to the spot where she had been sitting, dragged her luggage, and continued trekking over the mountains.
After walking for some time, Yu Qingxian realized she had reached a ski resort.
However, she only took a glance from the entrance.
With no snow now, there was no way to ski.
There were zombies inside the ski resort, all dressed in ski suits, likely former tourists.
She looked around and noticed a place where many dogs were kept.
But all these dogs had turned into zombie dogs, having gone without food for over half a year, and many were already corpses.
Only a few were still alive.
But judging from their appearance, they had likely resorted to eating their own kind out of extreme hunger, and looked ferocious.
Yu Qingxian didn't approach to open the door.
Besides, she was a bit afraid of being bitten.
Yu Qingxian wandered around for a while, then spotted a sled.
An idea struck her, and she pulled the sled out.
This sled was originally meant for reindeer, but Yu Qingxian thought it could be used for the Tyrannosaurus Rex instead.
She happily called the Tyrannosaurus Rex over, haphazardly tying all the sled ropes around its body, placing her luggage in a safe spot, and then climbing on board herself.
"Let's go!" Yu Qingxian said.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex obliged and took off.
Though there was no snow, the flat surface posed no problem for the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
It carried Yu Qingxian around, running everywhere.
Sitting on the sled, Yu Qingxian was delighted, except that her hat was blown off by the wind, forcing her to dismount and retrieve it.
Afterward, she held her hat down with one hand and gripped the sled with the other.
Next time, she'd get a hat with a strap, so the wind wouldn't blow it off.
Perhaps because Yu Qingxian was in such a good mood, the Tyrannosaurus Rex also frolicked gleefully.
It even closed its eyes while running.
As a result, Yu Qingxian watched as the Tyrannosaurus Rex, pulling the sled with her aboard, plowed straight into a thicket of trees.
After struggling out from under the overturned sled, Yu Qingxian saw the Tyrannosaurus Rex squatting nearby, eyes half-closed, tongue lolling out, its massive tail thumping loudly against the ground in a gesture of accomplishment.
Seeing its proud demeanor, Yu Qingxian reached out and gave it a knock on the head.
"We crashed, and you're still happy? If I were alive, I could've been killed," Yu Qingxian said, then pulled out a branch that had pierced her thigh.
If she were still alive, that branch impaling her thigh would have been excruciatingly painful.
Of course, if the pain became too numbing, perhaps she wouldn't feel it.
Yu Qingxian looked at the bloody hole in her leg, but no blood flowed out.
She could see a bit of plasma, though.
Although her body had been dead for over half a year, her blood hadn't completely coagulated.
Seeing the bloody wound on Yu Qingxian's thigh, the Tyrannosaurus Rex immediately came over and extended its tongue to lick it.
Yu Qingxian didn't understand the Tyrannosaurus Rex's action. Was it trying to comfort her?
"I don't feel pain, you don't need to worry." Yu Qingxian patted its massive head reassuringly.
After saying that, Yu Qingxian pushed the Tyrannosaurus Rex's head away and prepared to pull down her skirt.
But then she saw that the bloody hole where the branch had pierced her was slowly healing.
This definitely wasn't her own ability.
If she had this ability, she wouldn't have had to roam around with half her face split open.
So this was the Tyrannosaurus Rex's ability.
But wasn't it a Lightning-type or Electric-type ability?
Did this mean the Tyrannosaurus Rex had dual abilities?
Moreover, these kinds of abilities were typically only seen in male and female protagonists of post-apocalyptic novels.
Well done, you little one!
A true protagonist... dog!
Yu Qingxian suddenly felt that perhaps writing a post-apocalyptic story from a dog's perspective wouldn't be bad.
She stared at the Tyrannosaurus Rex and felt her writer's instincts kicking in again.
She even thought the idea was quite good.
Thinking about it, Yu Qingxian couldn't help but praise the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Up until now, she had encountered three potential female protagonists, one potential male protagonist in the form of the underground emperor, and now a potential protagonist dog.
So who was she?
Was she an NPC tasked with discovering protagonists?
This thought led Yu Qingxian to start pondering, stroking her chin.
First of all, protagonists were indeed formidable.
But there was one fatal flaw.
Around protagonists, many things happened, from once-in-a-decade to once-in-a-century or even once-in-a-millennium occurrences.
From the protagonist's perspective, it was undoubtedly exhilarating to carve a bloody path through hordes of zombies.
But for an ordinary person like Yu Qingxian, she simply wanted the protagonist to save her.
However, protagonists in post-apocalyptic stories were seldom saintly, and often turned a blind eye to those in need.
Any slight threat to their safety, and they could simply ignore it.
Of course, Yu Qingxian wouldn't blame those protagonists.
It's just that sometimes she wondered, if those abilities were possessed by soldiers instead, the outcome would be entirely different.
Having had these thoughts, Yu Qingxian withdrew her contemplation.
But for an entertaining story, it had to be entertaining.
In the apocalypse, human life was the cheapest commodity.
Some lives might be less valuable than a loaf of bread.
And human nature was the most fragile thing under such harsh conditions.
Even protagonists would be tempted by various things, so how could ordinary people resist?
Yu Qingxian stood up and patted the Tyrannosaurus Rex's head.
If it followed a formidable person, its future sustenance would be secure.
Following her, however, meant constant food scarcity.
"Tyrannosaurus Rex, maybe you should leave. Following me, you'll only get to eat once in a while. The zombies that used to follow me all ran away from hunger," Yu Qingxian said seriously.
Whether human or zombie, following her meant achieving the 'three days of hunger out of nine' achievement.
As well as the 'daily friend circle step count champion' achievement.
