Early the next morning, Xu Xiuhe and Shen Yin prepared to go to the hospital. Considering it would be inconvenient to bring Zhengzheng along, they directly sent Xu Yunzheng to Fang Yue at Yuelan Manor.
"Are you going to the hospital?" Fang Yue asked.
Ever since Shen Tianzheng fell ill and Xu Xiuhe was hospitalized, Fang Yue had become fearful at the mere mention of hospitals. After all, who would want to go to a hospital under normal circumstances?
"Yes," they replied.
"Which one of you is having issues?" Fang Yue inquired cautiously, her expression growing tense.
"Nothing's wrong. I'm going to check if I'm pregnant," Shen Yin explained.
Upon hearing this, Fang Yue patted her chest in relief. "You scared me!" Then she became excited. "Yin Yin, is your period late?"
"There's a good chance it is. This is wonderful! I'm going to be a grandmother again."
Fang Yue's joy increased even more. It was truly wonderful. She had missed out on so much when her daughter gave birth to Zhengzheng, but this time, she could be there for her.
"Alright, you two go ahead. Have a thorough check-up and don't worry. I'll take care of Zhengzheng," Fang Yue said, holding Zhengzheng's hand.
Xu Xiuhe drove the car. At first, Shen Yin wanted to sit in the front passenger seat, but Xu Xiuhe adamantly refused, saying it wasn't safe. So, Xu Xiuhe opened the back door and let Shen Yin sit there.
They went to the best hospital in Rong City. They had arrived early, and Xu Xiuhe had booked an appointment with a specialist, so everything went smoothly, and it was soon Shen Yin's turn.
While Shen Yin went in for her examination, Xu Xiuhe waited outside.
After about two hours, all of Shen Yin's tests were completed, and Xu Xiuhe went to collect the results.
Shen Yin sat in a chair, waiting for Xu Xiuhe.
"Sister-in-law, you're here too? Are you feeling unwell, or are you pregnant?"
Shen Yin turned to look and saw that gloomy man again. She must have left home on an unlucky day; how else could she keep running into Xu Zhengyang these past few days?
Shen Yin lowered her head and took out her phone, intending to call Xu Xiuhe to ask where he was so she could go find him. She didn't want to stay here for a moment longer, facing this man.
"Sister-in-law, don't leave. My brother will probably be back soon. If you leave, what will he do when he can't find you?"
Xu Zhengyang reached out and grabbed Shen Yin's arm.
Shen Yin forcefully shook him off, and Xu Xiuhe rushed over at that moment, causing Xu Zhengyang to fall to the ground once again.
"Brother, look at you two. Is this how you treat your younger brother? I just fell last night, and today when I see you and try to say hello, you make me sit on the ground again," the man said, feigning innocence. His tone became aggrieved, as if he had been bullied. The passing nurses all turned to look.
The gloomy man continued his act.
Shen Yin walked to Xu Xiuhe's side and asked, "Did you get the results?"
Xu Xiuhe nodded and took Shen Yin's hand, preparing to leave.
"Honey, what's going on? How are they bullying you again?" a coquettish female voice came from behind them. The voice sounded familiar. Shen Yin and Xu Xiuhe turned to look and saw that the woman next to Xu Zhengyang was the same one who had barged into their private room at Qingfan Tower last night.
"Honey, I have good news for you. I'm pregnant! Look, the doctor says I'm one month along."
Upon hearing this news, Xu Zhengyang immediately stood up and snatched the report from the woman's hand.
"Xinxin, you're really pregnant?"
"Yes, I really am. So, when are we going to get our marriage certificate?"
The woman's gaze was eager.
Xu Zhengyang's eyes flickered for a moment before he said, "There's no rush. We'll get the certificate after you're more stable."
"Brother, I'll head back first. Dad doesn't know this good news yet."
Xu Xiuhe couldn't wait for these two nuisances to leave.
After they left, Shen Yin took the report from Xu Xiuhe's hand. Sure enough, her pulse reading hadn't been wrong.
"Zhengzheng is going to have a little sister," she said.
"How do you know?"
"I'm generally lucky. I'm sure I'll have both a son and a daughter. Zhengzheng is a boy, so the baby in my belly now must be a girl."
Xu Xiuhe drove Shen Yin to a nearby restaurant and ordered some light food for her.
"Did you notice earlier? Xu Zhengyang doesn't seem too keen on marrying that woman," Shen Yin remarked.
"Mm, maybe he thinks her background isn't good enough. Yang Cui probably wants him to marry someone who can benefit Xu Zhengyang but can also be controlled by them," Xu Xiuhe said.
"There's no such perfect scenario in this world. But Xu Zhengyang did look genuinely happy," Shen Yin noted, remembering that Xu Guimin had always wanted a grandson. After Yang Cui learned of this desire, she had even considered targeting Xu Yunzheng.
At the Xu family villa.
Xu Zhengyang brought the pregnant woman home.
Yang Cui was sitting on the sofa watching TV and cracking sunflower seeds.
"What's going on? Who is she?"
"Hello, Auntie. I'm Zhengyang's girlfriend, Ge Xinxin."
"Girlfriend?" Yang Cui stood up to scrutinize her upon hearing this.
"Yes, Zhengyang and I have been together for over a month. He just accompanied me to the hospital for a check-up, and I'm pregnant with his child. So, I think we should move up our wedding plans."
Yang Cui jumped to her feet when she heard about the pregnancy. A baby was good, and this child's timing was perfect.
"It's wonderful that you're pregnant, but it's not convenient to have a wedding now. Don't worry, after you give birth to the child, our Xu family will definitely give you a grand wedding."
Ge Xinxin didn't seem to expect this answer. She had thought that being pregnant with a child from a wealthy family would make marrying into the family easier.
"Auntie, you know, I'm still in the early stages of pregnancy, so there's nothing inconvenient. Why don't Zhengyang and I get our marriage certificate first, and we can have the wedding after the baby is born? What do you think, Zhengyang?"
The woman turned her gaze to Xu Zhengyang.
"I'm fine with anything. I'll listen to Mom."
"Xinxin, you're still young, you don't understand. It's not appropriate to get the marriage certificate now. If Xu Xiuhe, Zhengyang's brother, finds out, you and the baby might be in danger. How about this: you two keep this quiet for now, you stay here, and after the baby is safely born, then you can get your marriage certificate and have the wedding."
"But, this way..."
"There are no buts. You don't know how complicated things can be in wealthy families. Zhengyang isn't an only child. Right now, the priority is to ensure the baby is born safely. In the future, Zhengyang... do you understand? Who knows what might happen if others find out you're Zhengyang's wife? What if they try to harm you?"
Yang Cui persuaded her.
"Alright, but are you sure Zhengyang and I will get our marriage certificate after the baby is born?" the woman asked again, still unsure.
"Of course, absolutely. You're the mother of Zhengyang's child. If Zhengyang doesn't get the certificate with you, who else would he get it with? Don't worry, I'm here. Zhengyang won't abandon you. You can stay here for now. You can even call me Mom. As soon as the baby is born, you'll go get your marriage certificate right away."
"Mrs. Wu, prepare a room. Make sure everything in it is of the best quality. From now on, treat Xinxin as Zhengyang's wife."
