Shen Yin took out all the food she had brought in her lunchbox and placed it on the table by the hospital bed.
"Oh my goodness, Sister Yin Yin, you're my savior," Qi Ji exclaimed excitedly as she sat up.
"Your Sister Shu Yi didn't send you pictures of delicious food?"
At Shen Yin's words, Qi Ji became dejected. Shu Yi had sent her many, many pictures of mouthwatering dishes, even saying they were "super delicious."
It had made her crave them for days.
"It smells so good," Ye Rong said as she approached.
"Mom, try some. Sister Yin Yin's cooking is amazing," Qi Ji said, picking up a piece of spare rib and bringing it to Ye Rong's mouth.
"I can do it myself, don't make such big movements," Ye Rong said, walking to the bedside and opening her mouth to eat the spare rib.
"It's really delicious."
Ye Rong then showered Shen Yin with more praise.
Shen Yin felt embarrassed by Ye Rong's compliments. It was also her first time meeting Ye Rong in person. If she had to use one word to describe the woman before her, it would be "gracefully strong."
"How much longer for Qi Ji? It should be soon, right?" Shen Yin asked.
"The doctor said it would be any day now," Ye Rong replied.
"Qi Ji needs to rest well during this time. If you want to eat anything, just tell me, and I'll bring it for you."
"Really? Sister Yin Yin, you're the best!" Qi Ji exclaimed.
"Won't that be too much trouble for you, Yin Yin?" Ye Rong also started calling Shen Yin by her nickname.
"It's no trouble at all. I'm not busy these days."
Qingfan Tower was already running smoothly, and Chen Siming could handle things on her own. All Shen Yin had to do was come up with new dishes periodically and teach the performers at the restaurant some dance moves.
"What about Sister Shu Yi? It feels like she's disappeared again these past few days."
"Oh, her? She came for Qingfan Tower's opening, but now she's probably about to start filming. I heard she took on another role, a mystery this time."
"Is 'Let's Set Off Together' finished?"
"Yeah, it's been about two months, so it should be wrapping up."
"Do you think she and Chang Zhiyuan will end up together?" Qi Ji asked curiously. It was frustrating to watch two people in love keep circling each other.
"It's hard to say. We'll have to see how things develop between them," Shen Yin had just finished speaking when Qi Ji's expression suddenly changed.
"Qi Ji, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Ye Rong asked anxiously.
"Mom, I think I'm going into labor."
Ye Rong immediately called for the doctor and nurses.
After they arrived, they quickly wheeled Qi Ji into the operating room. Shen Yin held Zhengzheng's hand as they waited outside the door. Ye Rong immediately called Xue Jingrui.
Before long, several people were standing outside the operating room.
"Old Xue, why are you here?" Ye Rong asked. Xue Kai had told her this morning that he had a meeting today. How did it end so early?
"I came as soon as the meeting finished."
Xue Jingrui was also there, along with a few people Shen Yin didn't recognize.
"Mom, I'm going in first. I'm worried about Qi Ji being alone in there."
After discussing with the doctor, Xue Jingrui entered the operating room. Outside, everyone was anxious and worried, considering there were two little lives in Qi Ji's belly.
As time ticked by, Shen Yin figured Zhengzheng must be getting hungry. Thinking that Ye Rong and Xue Kai probably hadn't eaten lunch either, she called Chen Siming and asked her to prepare some food and send it to the hospital.
There was still no news from inside when the food from Qingfan Tower arrived, almost at 1:30 PM.
"Uncle, Auntie, please eat something to fill your stomachs," Shen Yin said.
Only then did Xue Kai and Ye Rong realize they were a bit hungry. With Qi Ji still in the operating room, even the most delicious food held little appeal.
But they needed to eat something. After thanking Shen Yin, the group started eating outside the operating room.
After finishing, Xue Kai couldn't sit still. He kept pacing back and forth in front of the operating room door.
"Old Xue, stop pacing. You're making me dizzy," Ye Rong waved her hand.
Hearing this, Xue Kai sat down.
"Mommy, why hasn't auntie come out yet?" the little one asked, not crying or fussing, just sitting patiently with Shen Yin on the chairs outside the operating room, waiting for Qi Ji to give birth.
The chair was quite high, and the child's feet couldn't reach the ground. His little legs kept swinging back and forth. He propped his face up with his hands, his eyes squinting.
"Is the baby tired?" Ye Rong asked.
Shen Yin looked at Zhengzheng, whose eyes were almost closed.
"Yes, he's tired. He usually takes a nap at this time."
"Why don't you take him home? It's not good for him to wait here, and he can't sleep comfortably," Ye Rong suggested.
"No, grandma. Zhengzheng doesn't want to go home. Zhengzheng wants to wait here for Auntie Qi Ji to come out," the little one said stubbornly, forcing his eyes wide open.
Ye Rong said kindly, "Alright, we'll wait together for your little brother and sister to come out."
In the end, the little one couldn't resist and fell asleep sitting in the chair. Worried he wouldn't be comfortable sleeping like that, Shen Yin picked him up and placed him on her lap.
At around 4 PM, they finally heard the cry of babies from inside the operating room.
"They're born!" Ye Rong exclaimed excitedly.
The operating room door opened, and several doctors came out.
"The mother and babies are all safe and sound."
Soon after, nurses wheeled Qi Ji out of the operating room, and the two babies were brought into the VIP ward.
Ye Rong immediately ran to Qi Ji's side, asking if she felt uncomfortable anywhere.
Meanwhile, the two newborns were crying non-stop in the nearby bed.
Zhengzheng ran to the bedside, looking at the two newborns as if marveling at the wonder of the world, constantly gesturing for Shen Yin to look.
With Ye Rong's help, Xue Jingrui carefully picked up one of the babies and brought it to Qi Ji's bedside for her to see.
Qi Ji's face, which had been smiling, suddenly fell. Why were they so ugly? They were nothing compared to Zhengzheng, all wrinkly and not pretty at all.
"What's wrong, Qi Ji?" Ye Rong noticed the change in Qi Ji's expression and asked.
"It's a girl, right?" Qi Ji asked.
"Yes, I brought the little princess for you to see."
"It's a bit different from what I imagined," Qi Ji said with a disappointed expression.
"You think she's ugly? All newborns look like this, and since they're twins, they're bound to be a bit wrinkly. They'll look better in a few days. They look just like Jingrui when he was little, especially these eyes. They're like shiny black pearls, so adorable!" Ye Rong said, holding the other baby.
"The little brother and sister are so small," Zhengzheng marveled, as if looking at toys.
"You were this small when you were born too. When they grow up, they can play with Zhengzheng," Shen Yin said.
"When will they grow up?"
"When Zhengzheng starts kindergarten."
The ward was filled with joy. In the evening, Shen Yin was still there when Xu Xiuhe and Chang Zhiyuan arrived. After taking a look, Shen Yin told Xu Xiuhe they should go home, as Qi Ji had just given birth and needed to rest after expending so much energy.
Xu Xiuhe had driven there. After Shen Yin got in the car with Zhengzheng, the little one asked, "Daddy, when will Zhengzheng start kindergarten?"
"Why? Are you in a hurry?" Xu Xiuhe asked.
"Mommy said that after Zhengzheng starts kindergarten, little brother and sister can play with Zhengzheng," the child replied.
