Snatching Women from the Male Lead

Chapter 11

Qin Zhao would not let go, "I will also accuse you of sexual harassment. You are a 200 pound fat deadbeat who could not even beat me. How can you go file a complaint without feeling ashamed that people will laugh your teeth off."

Zhang Zhen's face turned red from her words, no longer daring to yell or plead for mercy. Seeing his face twisted in pain, Qin Zhao finally let him go after teaching him a lesson.

As soon as she released him, Zhang Zhen fled in shame.

Thunderous applause and cheers erupted around them!

Qin Zhao calmly continued gathering her belongings.

There were not many personal items left at the company, so Qin Zhao finished packing up in ten minutes.

Some colleagues who were neither close nor distant watched her leave.

To her surprise, the last person to see her off was Zhou Ying.

Zhou Ying took a box from her and walked out with her.

Once out of the elevator, Zhou Ying said, "I have already applied for a transfer. From now on, I will start doing scriptwriting work that I am truly good at."

Qin Zhao freed up a hand to pat her shoulder and asked, "Figured it out? Not relying on men anymore?"

She sidled up and slyly said, "Was it because you listened to me?"

Zhou Ying chuckled and said, "What are you thinking? I saw that someone as pretty as you could not capture Ye Chenxi's heart. Someone like me has even less of a chance."

"Tsk, it's because I look down on him." Qin Zhao said disdainfully.

She then took the box and headed straight out.

Behind her, Zhou Ying called out loudly, "Qin Zhao, thank you!"

Qin Zhao gave her an OK hand sign and walked out of Keepsakes Games' door.

At the company entrance, Nan Yue, who had come to see Ye Chenxi, happened to see Qin Zhao leaving.

Qin Zhao also saw her and smiled as she greeted her, "Good morning, Nan Yue."

Nan Yue also smiled back, "It is rather early. Why aren't you at the company working hard? Where are you going with all this stuff?"

Qin Zhao lifted the box and said, "I resigned. I'm taking my things home."

"Resigned?" Nan Yue was somewhat surprised. Recalling the run-down community where Qin Zhao lived, she asked again, "Why did you resign? Did you find another job?"

Qin Zhao raised her eyebrows, "Are you worried that I have no money or job and can't live?"

Nan Yue was straightforward, "Of course! We're friends after all."

She walked over and took a small box from Qin Zhao's hands, "Let's go. We can talk in the car. I'll give you a ride home."

Qin Zhao looked at the small box Nan Yue was holding and found it rather amusing.

But thinking of the pampered young miss who could not carry heavy objects, yet still wanted to help share the load, she politely did not laugh out loud.

"Give me a ride when you came to see Ye Chenxi? Not going anymore?" Qin Zhao asked.

Nan Yue looked at her, "I can see my boyfriend every day, but you don't resign every day."

Her words made perfect sense.

They put the items in the back seat, and Qin Zhao sat in the passenger seat.

Before starting the car, Nan Yue took one more look at Keepsakes Games' building, then drove off.

On the road, Nan Yue said, "Qin Zhao, you still haven't answered my earlier question."

"No particular reason. I just don't want to work there anymore." Qin Zhao said indifferently.

This was indeed true. She had already befriended Nan Yue and no longer needed to get close to Nan Yue through Ye Chenxi. So there was no need to keep working at Keepsakes Games and put up with that jerk.

Hearing her words, Nan Yue suddenly hit the brakes and stopped at the side of the road.

Qin Zhao was puzzled and looked at her in confusion.

Facing Qin Zhao's gaze, Nan Yue wanted to speak but hesitated. Her expression was somewhat troubled.

After a long pause, she finally spoke, "Qin Zhao, could it be that you resigned because of me?"

Qin Zhao's eyes narrowed slightly as she asked, "What makes you say that?"

"Because I misunderstood your ambiguous relationship with Chenxi before, you don't want to hurt the friendship between us. To avoid suspicion, you resigned from his company. Is that right?"

Qin Zhao's lips were pursed tightly, clearly holding back laughter. After a few seconds, she finally could not hold it in anymore and burst out laughing, "Hahahaha, Miss Nan, your...your thought process is really interesting!"

She managed to stop herself from saying the second half of the sentence.

Perhaps noble ladies from prestigious families do make such formal gestures for their friends that ordinary people cannot even imagine.

One should know that normal people would not harm their own interests for the sake of a friend.

Since Nan Yue wanted to think this way, why not take advantage of it?

After Qin Zhao finished laughing, she put on a serious face and said, "I did not want to tell you the real reason originally, but since you've already guessed it, I won't hide it from you.

You're right that resigning does have something to do with you.

But there are other factors too."

If she only said it was because of Nan Yue, Nan Yue could simply ask Ye Chenxi and her lies would be exposed.

Her words had to be half true and half false to confuse people.

Nan Yue asked, "What else?"

"Someone in my team wanted to target me and deliberately altered the data.

It led to me being reprimanded by President Ye. President Ye gave me a chance to explain, but I gave it up and then submitted my resignation."

Nan Yue felt injustice for Qin Zhao, "How could they do this? Finding out who altered the data would not have been that difficult!"

As she spoke more, she inadvertently got angrier instead of comforting Qin Zhao, the victim.

Qin Zhao smiled and helped calm Nan Yue down, "It's alright, it doesn't matter. I didn't like that job anyway, and with my abilities, how could I not find another?"

Nan Yue thought of something and said, "Come to my father's company. I can arrange an appropriate position for you."

Qin Zhao shook her head, "I appreciate your kindness, but no need."

"Why?" Nan Yue frowned, "My father's company has much better benefits than Keepsakes Games. Don't tell me you look down on it?"

"Of course not. It's just that given your relationship with Ye Chenxi, if I went to your father's company, he definitely would not agree. I don't want to affect your relationship."

Nan Yue pouted in dissatisfaction, "Chenxi and I are in a romantic relationship, but we are still independent individuals. You're my friend. How is it his business if I help you!"

"Is that so? There was something he said when I resigned. If you heard it, you would not say that."

Qin Zhao hesitated whether to tell Nan Yue or not. After thinking for a bit, she decided not to.

Currently, she was not as important to Nan Yue as Ye Chenxi was. If Nan Yue knew what Ye Chenxi had said and chose to side with Ye Chenxi, it would strain Qin Zhao's relationship with her.

The mission might not be completely aborted, but the battle lines would definitely be drawn longer. She did not want to waste time.

So no matter how Nan Yue asked later, Qin Zhao kept silent.

Nan Yue could not get anything out of her and could only send her home first.

The two did not speak again for the rest of the ride, creating a somewhat dull atmosphere.

After getting off outside the community, Qin Zhao bid Nan Yue farewell and headed inside.

Nan Yue suddenly called out to her. Qin Zhao looked back and heard Nan Yue say, "Don't forget I'm treating you to dinner the day after tomorrow."

Qin Zhao smiled and responded, "See you the day after tomorrow."

Back home, in order to verify Ye Chenxi's words "I will make it so you can't find work in the industry", Qin Zhao specifically submitted her resume to several gaming companies in Yuncheng.

She received replies and went for interviews the next day.

The interviews originally went well, but then there was no more news afterwards.

The reactions from several companies were so consistent that Qin Zhao had to believe Ye Chenxi was capable.

So Qin Zhao submitted her resume to her rival company, Carefree Games.

The biggest difference between this company and Keepsakes Games was that the games they made were targeted towards females. Most of the employees, including the boss, were women.

It formed a stark contrast with Keepsakes Games which only made games for males. In principle, there should not have been competition between the two companies because their target users did not overlap.

But for some reason, they had become mortal enemies.

Just two hours after submitting her resume, Qin Zhao received a call for an interview.

"Is this Ms. Qin Zhao?" the other party asked.

"Yes, speaking."

"The interview time is scheduled for Monday morning. Does that work for you?"

"Yes, that's fine."

Saturday was the day Qin Zhao would meet with the suspected manga copyright seller. She slept until noon before slowly getting up.

With no job, she felt carefree. Life had something to look forward to again.

After a leisurely lunch, it was about time for the meeting with the seller. She put on athletic clothes and headed out.

Her bare face looked much younger. Perhaps because life had been too hard, there was always a hint of world-weariness on the original owner's body.

This only started improving after Qin Zhao's arrival.

Qin Zhao took a taxi to the cafe and found an outdoor seat. A server came over, looked Qin Zhao up and down, and asked, "What would you like to drink, young lady? Our new Black Forest cake is quite good, would you like to try it?"

Qin Zhao was pleased at being addressed as "young lady" and nodded, "I'll try that, and an iced Americano please."

"Coming right up."

After the server left, Qin Zhao picked up a magazine from the table and started flipping through it. A woman's voice sounded above her, "Excuse me, are you Cat Head Fox Face?"
