Their second meeting, five years later.
It was night again, with empty streets and alleyways. Only Angus stood outside, wearing a white T-shirt and holding binoculars to gaze at the stars.
In the five years that had passed, he had grown taller, now seemingly surpassing even Jiang Yan in height. The cotton-linen fabric outlined the clear, upright lines of the young man, exuding a pure and bright youthful air.
From the shadows, Jiang Yan led her bat army to attack once more.
However, upon seeing him, Jiang Yan worried about attracting human attention and causing danger. She immediately ordered the other bats to disperse.
She transformed into human form, planning to first startle Angus, then kidnap him.
As Angus was observing the sky with his binoculars, a faint, eerie footstep suddenly sounded behind him. Then, without warning, someone tapped his shoulder!
He quickly turned around, but there was no one there. As he looked down searching, a small white bat fluttered past his eyes, spreading its wings to fly to a nearby tree.
Jiang Yan let out a low cry of pain. When she had reached out to touch Angus, she suddenly felt a sharp sting. The bats lurking in the distance stirred, wanting to come and avenge her, but she held them back.
The little bat in the tree cried out pitifully. Angus's eyes darkened as he furrowed his brow in thought. Suddenly, he noticed the silver ring on his binoculars.
He glanced at the small bat in the tree, then tossed the binoculars far away, thinking to himself, "Indeed, just a little one, barely a hundred years old."
The white bat clung to the tree branch, its round eyes still warily fixed on him. Its gaze was intense, yet its small form was adorably weak.
If even silver could hurt her enough to cry out, she must have been extremely sheltered by her family.
Unsure of the severity of her injury, Angus stood in place for a moment, considering. Then he extended his exceptionally long, pale hands, making a cradling gesture beneath the tree.
Angus's voice was clear and gentle, trying his best to show a friendly side to this little creature, coaxing her to come down: "Will you let me catch you? I'd like to check your injury. I won't hurt you..."
Jiang Yan's eyes, like black beans, glanced at him once. Figuring he wouldn't dare do anything, she fluttered her small wings and slowly descended onto his hands.
The sudden presence of the little creature in his palm was a novel sensation, making Angus afraid to apply any pressure. With his back to the watchful eyes of the black bats, he carried the little one back to his room.
Since it was his fault, Angus placed Jiang Yan on a book and went out.
Jiang Yan surveyed the room, finding it clean but desolate, incomparable to her castle. Although the castle was a bit dim due to the absence of fire, its decor was countless times more luxurious than this small room.
As Jiang Yan was secretly making comparisons, Angus returned, carrying a glass of red potion said to heal pain.
The air seemed to be filled with the sweet scent of the medicine. Jiang Yan drank the sweet potion, immediately feeling relieved as the pain from her wound subsided.
Had human medicine become so effective? This didn't bode well for the conquest of the human world.
The little bat was lost in thought, her mind wandering who knows where.
Angus pulled out the chair and sat at the desk. He extended a finger, gently stroking the little bat's fluffy cheek.
Jiang Yan snapped back to reality, hearing Angus ask politely and gently, "I saw you when I was little. Did you come to find me?"
After a few seconds of confusion, she remembered her purpose. She quickly composed herself, unwilling to transform back into human form now. The great vampire young countess being hurt by silver was truly embarrassing. At least in bat form, she had fur to cover it.
She put on an air of authority and informed him: "I've come to kidnap you."
This answer seemed to catch Angus off guard. He paused for a moment before continuing in that smooth voice of his, "Kidnap me for what?"
"To be my... bride." They were practically an old married couple by now, and Jiang Yan had started off righteously, but suddenly remembered his age and lost some of her momentum.
