"Don't go," Moon Eagle said with a smile. "You'll have a great time with me. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider?"
Gu Wanyin's mouth twitched. She was about to say something when Nine-Tails and Tree Spirit returned.
Nine-Tails stepped in front of Gu Wanyin and said, "Moon Eagle, are you up to your old tricks again? I should have known better than to bring you along!"
Tree Spirit smiled sweetly, but her words carried an undercurrent of menace: "You can flirt with anyone you like, but our Boss Gu is off-limits."
Moon Eagle rubbed his brow resignedly and raised his hands in surrender. "Ladies, I'm sorry. I won't do it again, okay?"
"Hmph, smart of you to know when to quit. Here, drink this concoction I just mixed!"
Moon Eagle looked at the colorful and frightening-looking drink in front of him and said reluctantly, "Can I not drink it?"
"No, you can't!" Nine-Tails and Tree Spirit said in unison.
Moon Eagle had no choice but to drink the potion, his whole face scrunching up. Gu Wanyin clearly saw this and felt like laughing.
Out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw Cat Er laughing too, but when she turned to look, Cat Er's face was expressionless again.
Had she imagined it?
"Wanyin, don't pay him any attention. He's always like this, always flirting with female spirits in the monster realm," Nine-Tails said, pulling her aside. "If I hadn't grown up with him, I wouldn't hang out with him at all."
Tree Spirit laughed, "Good thing you weren't seduced by him."
Gu Wanyin didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
She had only met Moon Eagle for the first time today! If she had been seduced so easily, that would have been terrible.
Besides, all she wanted now was to earn points. She didn't want to think about romance.
If she got a boyfriend, he would become someone close to her. How would she explain the system to him? How would she explain the hotel's mysteries? If she kept secrets from him, he might get angry... Forget it. With no man in her heart, she could focus on her goals.
"Sister Nine-Tails, what's the monster realm like?" Bai Shuwen asked curiously.
"It's a bit like your human world," Nine-Tails said. "Our realm is divided into several areas, like the forest area, freshwater area, saltwater area, and urban area. The buildings in the cities are similar to those from your 1920s and 30s."
"Actually, most monsters prefer not to live in the urban areas. The forest area is the most populated. Next time we have a chance, I'll take you for a tour."
"Great!" Bai Shuwen and Zhuang Xiaoxia were excited.
"Bringing humans to the monster realm, aren't you afraid of causing trouble?" Cat Er, who had been quiet until now, suddenly spoke up in a cold voice.
Nine-Tails paused, then said, "Well, you have a point. Although the monster realm has always been peaceful, it's better to be safe than sorry."
Gu Wanyin agreed.
Although the system had said that the monsters chosen by the Interstellar were all good ones, Bai Shuwen and Zhuang Xiaoxia wouldn't have the protection mechanism outside the hotel, so it was better to be cautious.
Monsters definitely couldn't harm humans within the hotel's boundaries.
Thinking about it this way, Cat Er was probably trying to remind them.
Maybe she wasn't as aloof as she appeared on the surface.
"By the way, how do you know what the human world was like in the last century?" Gu Wanyin asked curiously. "Have you been here before?"
"Yes, about a hundred years ago, a portal between the monster realm and the human world opened briefly. But it closed so quickly that we only got a glimpse and didn't even have time to buy anything before we had to return," Nine-Tails explained.
"I heard it opened a few times even earlier," Tree Spirit added. "But we were either too young or hadn't yet cultivated into spirits then, so we're not sure about those times."
"I see," Gu Wanyin nodded.
Who had opened those previous portals to the monster realm? Was it also the Interstellar side?
Gu Wanyin asked the system in her mind, but the system replied that it had only been created six years ago and was still a baby, so it didn't know about past events.
...
The next morning, when Gu Wanyin came to the cafeteria for breakfast, she saw Happy Carp sitting there with a table piled high with dishes, eating voraciously and shocking the other guests around her.
"Boss Gu!" Happy Carp saw her and managed to swallow what was in her mouth before greeting her excitedly. "Human food is so delicious! Can I bring a few more friends today? Before I came, they said human food must be awful, hmph."
"Of course you can!" Gu Wanyin was delighted. "The more friends you bring, the happier I'll be."
"Boss Gu, you're so nice!"
Gu Wanyin thought to herself, silly child, this is good for my business, shouldn't I be the one praising you? This little koi is so adorably silly.
Before she could say anything else, the system's voice suddenly rang in her head: "Ding! Congratulations, host. Mission completed. Rewards: Unlock all rooms on the 7th floor of Building 2; Upgrade 4th and 5th floors of Building 2 once; Unlock all rooms on the 3rd floor of the Special Building; Unlock cinema and related facilities; Unlock toy store and unlimited access to all toy store products."
The latest mission was to host five monster guests, and this mission was issued after Nine-Tails arrived, so Nine-Tails didn't count.
Nine-Tails had brought three monsters back, plus Happy Carp made four, which meant another monster had arrived?
Gu Wanyin was quite interested, so she went out to take a look.
The newcomer was a burly bear spirit, probably twice as tall as Gu Wanyin, with muscles all over his body. Xu Shi was staring at him in astonishment.
He was carrying two large boxes full of spirit-seeking flowers and gold and silver jewelry. Although there weren't many spirit-seeking flowers, the sheer quantity of gold and silver jewelry still exchanged for nearly twenty thousand points.
Then he rushed off to the medicine shop.
It seemed his goal was very clear - he came for the medicine.
This was an ambitious monster.
After breakfast, Gu Wanyin went to check out the cinema.
The cinema had ten screening rooms, each showing ten movies a day at various times. The movies included not only those from this world's past but also from the world Gu Wanyin had come from before her transmigration. Guests could choose which ones they wanted to watch.
The ticket prices varied for different movies, ranging from ten points for the cheapest to over a hundred points for the most expensive.
Since the cinema had just opened, most of the guests wanted to relax and went to watch movies today. Seeing that there were a few empty rooms in the zombie-killing simulation training camp, Gu Wanyin entered one and started practicing.
Although she had the system's protection mechanism and was invincible, and she couldn't go out to kill real zombies, she wanted to improve her skills.
With the system, she certainly wouldn't have any accidents, but always relying on the system would make her weak.
In any case, more practice couldn't hurt.
That 066 system, who knew if it would cause more trouble...
After practicing all morning, Gu Wanyin was drenched in sweat. She went back to her room to take a shower, and then heard the system issue a new mission.
